Great evening overall. Restaurant was recommended by hotel concierge , but he was not able to get us a table. I used Open Table and immediately got a table. Thanks !

Bacchus has long been a favorite restaurant of mine in Milwaukee. The food quality and service are always outstanding. The new decor is lively and fun. The menu is diverse enough to maintain interest and the wine selection (and sommelier) are fun and impressive.
I was excited to see Bacchus after their recent remodel. Upon walking in, I could still smell the fresh paint, and the decore was updated. New floor, artwork, wall colors, and a more modern vibe, which is what stood out the most. Unfortunately, past the receptionists desk, I was not terribly impressed-- especially compared to the old restaurant. My biggest issue was the lighting. The remodel has taken away the soul of Bacchus. It is no longer intimate, warm or cozy. Now it is bright, airy, and cold. We were not seated by our reservation time, a huge pet peeve. Service in the bar was slow due to the large number of guests both dining in the bar and waiting for tables there, so we spent most of our wait drinkless. We almost left. Bacchus is our favorite of all Bartolotta Restaurants.
We each had the 7 course tasting menu, and everything about it was delicious. We’ve dined here many times, but this was the first time we tried the tasting menu. Bill, our server, explained each dish in enough detail that we didn’t miss any of the many flavors therein. The pacing and portion size of the courses was perfect. This is one of the most elegant restaurants in Milwaukee. We can’t wait to return after their remodeling is done this Fall (2019).
