This is a wonderful place for people you are looking for some assistance but maintains independence. The staff is beyond friendly, treating every residence with dignity and high regard. They sure know how to spoil the residence. The rooms are roomy and the view is spectacular. The food is wonderful and the wait staff is top dollar. The place is "alive" and active with most activities run by the very residence that live there. The moment I walked in I knew this was the place for my mom.
The staff goes above and beyond to make each resident feel valued, important, special and cared for. The grounds are kept well with the added touch of residence’s plants and interest. Bixby Knolls Towers makes the residences feel that this is their home and are welcome to add their personal touch to the place. Any complaint is taken care of immediately and suggestions are put into place.
Following a stroke and hospitalization, we needed to relocate our mom fairly quickly. The staff at the Towers was very friendly and informative when we met. They showed us the assisted living apartments available and helped assist us in getting the necessary paper work and medical information together quickly. They also coordinated with the staff at the rehab facility at the hospital mom was leaving. Overall things have gone very Bixby Knolls! They were the friendliest community we saw by far! Both the residents and the staff seemed happy to be there! It was just a nice, clean, warm feeling community in general, and definitely worth a look if you looking into senior living!
AM STILL IN THE PROCESS OF "MOVING IN" BUT SO FAR HAVE FOUND THE RESIDENTS VERY FRIENDLY AND THE STAFF EXTREMELY HELPFUL AND PLEASANT. I HAVE LOOKED AT A NUMBER OF SIMILAR COMMUNITIES AND FEEL THAT THIS ONE , WITHOUT DOUBT, IS THE BEST I HAVE SEEN. THE ROOMS AND SURROUNDINGS ARE ESPECIALLY NICE AND THE AMENITIES ARE PLENTIFUL. I am living at Bixby Knolls Towers , independent living, in Long Beach, California for almost 4 years. The apartments here are beautiful. There are Studios, 1 bedroom, and 2 bedroom apartments and all of them also have fully equipped kitchens even though they serve 3 meals a day in the main dining room. Lots and lots of closet space. A lot of things to improve on: - their elevator seems like it's dying - friendliness of the staff towards residents...they seem to pick and choose whoever they want to be nice to - responsiveness to the needs of residents. My sister did not have a shower for weeks. Her air conditioning knocks but never fixed. They keep dodging the issues. - variety and good servings of food. Bixby Towers used to be a great place to live. We have had family members reside there over the last 15 years. I have witnessed the dramatic decline in amenities and lack of customer service regarding repairs since Pacifica has purchased the property. The environment is unhealthy at times with regard to temperature regulation. There is no air when it's hot or heat when it's cold. This is a beautiful, but old building, and we are waiting for replacement parts as the proprietary Air Conditioning system cannot be fixed by just anyone but only specific contractors.
