Unfortunately my loved one passed before we were able to get her moved in, but based on what we saw during the tour and how helpful they were when we were signing up I have nothing bad to say about Encore Senior Village. They were so kind and so helpful when we were arranging things for our loved one, they did a lot of work coordinating things between the hospital and the rehab facility she was in. I'd definitely choose them again if we had another loved one in need of care!
There are a couple of things I am disappointed in. We are there for memory care, they told me they never use psychotropic drugs, after speaking with the doctor, that's not true. The food is very high in carbohydrates with not much protein in it. As far as the staff is concerned, at first, there were some people left over from the old management that were good, and now there seems to be a bit of a turnover. They used to be Paradise and now they have new management as Encore, and they still have a ways to go to get the program... read more
We placed my Dad there for respite care in October and we very pleased and satisfied with the care he received. The staff is very caring and really care and made this difficult time easier. After bring Dad back home with in home care it became clear we could no longer take care of him at home. He suffers from Alzheimer's and it is steadily progressing. Dad and I thought this was a a very nice facility. I had heard good things about it from friends and we agree.
This is not a high skilled nursing facility, and the nursing staff are very limited on what they can do. The facility director [name removed] was excellent. She was very professional, courteous, attentive, and overall great to work with.
When my loved one first moved into The Cottages of New Lenox it was wonderful. We loved all of the staff and the meals served were balanced and tasted good. Within the last year they have had a complete turnover of management/staff. It went WAY downhill. The menu changed as well and went from good balanced meals to things like macaroni and cheese for dinner. The first week we were here, things went well. The second week we noticed the amount of food they were feeding my loved one was not adequate so my loved one was hungry all the time. They did not help with the feeding and he was always the last one to eat. The meals they provide are not balanced. We were very dis-satisfied. They let the residents have the rule of walking into everyones bedroom - so there was a lack of privacy. We were disappointed in the laundry service as well, my loved one went a week without towels. Mu husband came home with 2 sores on his heel and a terrible bed sore that ended up causing him to pass away. They seemed anxious to have him here, but he was more work than they were able to handle and I wish they would have just told me that from the get go. I wish I had never sent him here in the first place.
Mom was a resident of the cottages until recently. The place is clean and the grounds well cared for and attractive. What is of great concern is the administration changing four times in a year. You never knew who was in charge. Each one had their own way of following the guidelines. The help inadequate and changed so often there was no consistency.
