TO LIVE AND FRY IN L.A. In 2017, four childhood friends came up with a simple concept — take Nashville Hot Chicken and make it better than anyone else in America. With only a couple thousand dollars to their name, they boot-strapped a pop-up concept in a parking lot in East Hollywood serving a simple menu of tenders, sliders, fries, and kale slaw — they created a viral cult following with lines consistently over an hour long.

I stopped by the restaurant for lunch on Tuesday, December 13, 2022. The Altamonte Springs site is the second location for the California-based chain in the Orlando area, the first being in Waterford Lakes. This location has ample indoor and outdoor seating and was kept meticulously clean and organized. Even though I'm not a fan of spicy food, Dave's chicken can be calibrated to your level of heat tolerance...from No Spice to Reaper. OMG! I can't believe they've opened a Dave's hot chicken in central Florida! The last time I tried Dave's hot chicken was in Houston Texas, and it was the best chicken sandwich I've ever had! My partner and I came and we decided to get the two chicken sliders meal and added a side order of fries. We put the spice level to hot, and trust me it was hot! Chicken was cooked perfectly. Fries crunchy but not soggy with oil. Lightly flavored. I got the step below the most spicy chicken. Too much for me to really enjoy the flavor. Light or medium spice level was good. Kids enjoyed. Quite a bit of food.
Welp.. I guess a good way to start this review off is by saying I tried this for the first time last night and I'm craving it today. The fries are yummyyy and crunchyyyy. The chicken is awesome too but just be aware, if you order the hot, HOT is what you'll get, as the name of the restaurant suggests haha. Heard Dave's Hot chicken was opening up in Altamonte and decided to stop by before work. Place was pretty empty and I was able to order at the register with no lines. I opt for the 2 tenders with medium spice. I didn't know their spice level so opt for the medium. Medium tasted like a mild to me, so next time I will try the Hot level. So glad they came to Altamonte...much closer than driving down to 50. My first heat level was Hot...next time I'll notch it up a level. Hot gave a good tingle but no sweat (for me). All tasted pretty good (I had the combo with a strip and a slider). I'll go back for another visit soon.
Excellent fit the bill. Little off put by the tip amount when using a credit card, however service has been great. Portions are huge, each slider is like full chicken breast. Not cut or flattened. Ordered two couldn't finish
I ran across a random Instagram post showing the grand opening of Dave's Hot Chicken. I figured that it's Friday night and I want to try something different and good. So why not? When I pulled up I can see people in waiting all the way to the door but in was commuted on trying this chicken spot and I was not disappointed. Opening day! First time at a Dave's Hot Chicken! Everyone was super nice and they have some pretty awesome graffiti art in the walls depicting Altamonte:) I won't spoil it for you. But definitely walk around and check it out. You'll get a little chuckle if you are from this area. This restaurant is located where the old World of Beer was on the corner.
