TO LIVE AND FRY IN L.A. In 2017, four childhood friends came up with a simple concept — take Nashville Hot Chicken and make it better than anyone else in America. With only a couple thousand dollars to their name, they boot-strapped a pop-up concept in a parking lot in East Hollywood serving a simple menu of tenders, sliders, fries, and kale slaw — they created a viral cult following with lines consistently over an hour long.

I was excited to see Dave’s Hot Chicken finally open in the South Bay; it’s the perfect spot! There’s plenty of parking and both indoor and outdoor seating. I ordered the fries and tenders, which were perfectly crispy with just the right level of heat. Since I’m not a fan of super spicy food, I appreciated that they offer a hot-but-not-too-spicy option. It’s just sad when you see your favorite restaurant like that. I’m grateful that it wasn’t my first location otherwise they would not have earned my business. Starting with the pile of trash at the entrance which is definitely disgusting, unhealthy and unwelcoming to customers. Dave makes a great product their chicken is juicy delicious and whatever level of spice you can handle. And the cheese you get .... You have to ask for it. It goes amazing with the chicken. The double chicken tender meal is the best. A great place. Like it a lot. Can't wait to go back to that location.
