TO LIVE AND FRY IN L.A. In 2017, four childhood friends came up with a simple concept — take Nashville Hot Chicken and make it better than anyone else in America. With only a couple thousand dollars to their name, they boot-strapped a pop-up concept in a parking lot in East Hollywood serving a simple menu of tenders, sliders, fries, and kale slaw — they created a viral cult following with lines consistently over an hour long.

I was wondering what the rave was and wanted to try this place. Cool to see the unique interior design. Ordered the Hot 2 tenders with fries and sliders. I'd say the portion is on the bigger side. Was it spicy? Not really. There is spice but not really hot. I couldn't finish it because it was bitter and sweet. The coating is not to my taste. I'm a HUGE fan of Dave's hot chicken. I got the combo with 1 slider and 1 chicken tender and it was a lot of food-- those sliders are really just full sandwiches. The extra hot is reasonably spicy without being hazardous on the stomach (in my personal opinion) so it was perfect for me. Deducted star for service just because they made a mistake on my friend's order, and also forgot my other friend's order for a while. Also, I really really appreciate that they are halal.
The food here is FANTASTIC! The chicken is ALWAYS seasoned to perfection and the crunch is never lacking. The kale slaw meshes with the sandwich so well. I’ve ordered from them about 10x and literally no complaints. I usually order online and head in the pick up. Always been ready on time. My go to place to eat here in Minnesota 10/10 recommend.
You really can’t go wrong with fried chicken tenders, and Dave’s was a fun new place to try since they expanded to Minnesota! We’ve gone a couple times now and the staff has seemed annoyed with everyone every time, but the food has been consistently good. It gets busy around dinner time and the wait can be longer. Yummy food & quick service! We tried the reaper & medium chicken sandwich and realize that reaper was toooo hot for us while medium was not spicy enough. We ended up ordering an extra hot and it was just right!
