Have been pleased with Donley service in the past and have had 2 of their AC units over the years. But..... This morning thermostat didn't appear to be working and they were able to send someone out to check it in the afternoon. i appreciate the promptness. The technician, who was accompanied by a second guy (trainee?), verified the thermostat was bad in 5 minutes. I have tried for weeks to get a response from Donley Plumbing. Two weeks a tech came to our new house to help move a water softener from our old house. Oh by the way we have spend thousands on a/c and other needs over the last twenty years...so we are not a new customers. When I got the quote I called and email back to the tech and Donnelly to break it out...nothing. Rip off. The technician was here for 25 minutes at the most replace an $80 part and charge me $400. I'm a single woman and didn't know better until the work was done.
We have used Donley Service Center for many years. In that time period we have purchased 4 AC/Heater units between our 2 homes and maintained service contracts for the 2 homes. The technicians are honest, polite and knowledgeable as are the customer service reps. Our reason for this poor rating has to do with their business model of delegating the dual role of both service and sales to their technicians. They must also retrieve the part. Donley came out to repair an A/C system and they diagnosed the problem immediately. They proceeded to clean out a clogged drain pipe that was in the garage (very easy access) and it took only about 10 minutes to clear out the clog with compressed air and then pour water through it (only one plastic zip tie was needed during the repair, no other parts). For the few minutes they were here including diagnosis, unclogging the pipe, and filling out the paperwork, they charged me over $200, not including the $89 service fee. So f... read more
I am only giving 1 star because 0 stars is not an option the service was so horrible. We have used Donley to service plumbing emergencies at our rentals for about 10 years. Though prices have gone up recently ($650 to scope a main line), we didn't have any customer service issues until today. Unfortunately, it was such extreme rudeness and lack customer service, we will never do business with Donley Plumbing again. I called due to a plumbing emergency at a rental. The service representative was masked and knew his business - skilled and polite. Good service The big negative was the price! Very expensive. Example: we were told that our water pressure was too high (91 lbs) and needed a new main water pressure valve. Donley quoted price: $1100. Bids from two other plumbers for same repair = $500 - $550. Answering service on weekends is lousy. Receptionist has difficulty with English language, poor phone connection, does not seem to know what HVAC is. Does not seem to know Donley's business services well.
Donely AC/Plumbing, came out yesterday and had the audacity to quote me $14K to repair a broken water main or $20K to replace it! While I was in the midst of a full fledged panic attack, my sister researched and found that it shouldn't be more than $5K. I got a callback from the 2nd pro that I'd left a message for, Everhart Plumbing, and he quoted me $3500 for pipe replacement, plus he changed the head on the outside spigot and added a back-flow valve that was missing for free!
