Very deceptive pricing -- expect to pay nearly twice their quoted rate after 4 months. I was looking for a storage locker in late April, and saw a small space at Extra Space Storage for $129/month. When I called, they told me that was in fact the rate, BUT they could only rent it to me if they could add a $14/month "insurance" charge, even if I didn't want my stuff insured. I rented a unit at the Goleta CA location. When I spoke to the gentleman on the phone I told him that I wanted a closet size unit. He said that he couldn't guarantee me a unit that I needed a month from now so I decided to rent for 2 months rather than 1. I had used your Irvine location previously and didn't need to go into the office or have them let me in so I figured the same would be the case here. How do I give the Extra space storage facility in Carpinteria a minus star review? My belongings are ruined in their facility-- the outdoor unit doors do not keep the outside dirt from blowing in so everything is filthy , too dirty to even touch. And moldy from humidity. My belongings on the indoor units also are moldy and covered in blown in dust and dirt. They provide no services, have no expenses, but keep raising the rates over and over.... screw these people. super expensive and they raised the price THREE times in TWO years! Plus, there was rodent crap and a dead cockroach when I ended up moving my things out. The only reason they get two stars is because it's easy to get into and their, probably underpaid, employees are pleasant. Come on now! seriously? $800 a month to store things? Awful.
