54th Street was founded in Kansas City, MO by Thomas E. Norsworthy in 1989. He envisioned a place that would accommodate a consistently crowded dining room as well as a lively bar crowd, while offering the quality food and drinks that exceed national chain competitors. At 54th Street, we believe that great food starts with fresh produce, high quality meats and ingredients and meals prepared from scratch. With our amazing range of scratch prepared menu items, we truly have something for everyone. The Five-Four promise is to f... read more

The vibe is very relaxed and a touch above a regular mid scale establishment. It's nice and cozy without being dreary. The bar area is a bit more lit and a bit noisy at times from people watching the games. But that's what it's there for right. Nice cold beer at the perfect temperature and one of those guys (I wish I could remember which makes an amazing Painkiller drink. Service is always great in the bar area. Whether it's two or three, they always have each others back and someone is always checking in you. The fo... read more
Food is great. Haven't had a bad meal there yet. But service is intermittently good and bad. Generally when sitting at the bar, it is great. Tied to eat last night at a table and it was like our party wasn't even there. 20 mins and other than water that was brought, hadn't even ordered yet. Ended up leaving as we just gave up. But food is overall great so give it a try and sit at the bar if possible. Management at a restaurant is hard and you will always have the one offs.
This was a win for my crew. Our server (Alex) was very nice and knowledgeable of the menu. She was quick and efficient with service. I was excited to see strawberries for the kiddos on the menu ( my son is a strawberry fien!). Everything from Start to finish was fresh and tasty, loved the gringo dip. It was like queso meet spinach dip. Salsa is like a pepper salsa not standard tomato salsa. Hubby and I split the ribs and chicken tenders with Brussels sprouts and Mac and cheese. We shared with the son but they have a great ki... read more
I was pleasantly surprised with Five Four restaurant in the South Park Meadows shopping area. We visited for happy hour on a Tuesday (HH ends at 6). You can sit in the main restaurant or the bar area and still get HH. They have some big screen TVs in the bar area that would be great for a game day. I was really impressed with their frozen strawberry margarita it was strong and delicious! Their Long Island iced tea was surprisingly good too, and their drink prices couldn't be beat. You receive discounted HH food items if yo... read more
It is so nice to see new restaurants in South Austin. This is a nice addition. The food is good, menu extensive, and the drinks appear to equally impressive. Missing is the level of service. The hostesses failed to acknowledge our presence for a period of time. Our server appeared to be poorly trained. There was little follow up other than putting food on the table. We were in mid-afternoon on a Sunday. It felt like the B team was working. We will return and hope for a bit of improvement.
Great service and good overall, I enjoyed it and the staff was nice, the front revolving door is an accident waiting to happen though...
Great Brussel sprouts we're out of this world. I really liked this place. Great service and ambience.
Let's talk about the 'eh' of this place. We'll start with the awkwardness of the staff. Either they hire and train people with little to no people skills or.... No I think that's it. It was actually a comfortable place. Nice chairs and booths. We went at lunch and had the whole place to ourselves. Let's talk food: I was not ready for a menu with 5000 items on it. Truthfully it is hard to imagine a menu so big and everything being amazing quality. Which basically brings me to the main show, the food. Everything was just... read more
I came here last week with my cousins. We got there as they opened so I believe we were the first guest of the day. My cousins had been here but it was my first and I was indeed impressed. I got the all you can eat soup and salad combo because that is what I tend to get most places and you will not be disappointed. I felt like the soup was a great portion size because after finishing I could barely eat the salad but I did. The soup was great the potatoes were cut the right size and loved it. The summer salad came with peca... read more
