54th Street Grill is a chain following the formula of a Chili's or a BJ's Brewhouse. Chili's has completely fallen apart on every possible measure of quality. This allows a lot of space for competitors to move in. 54th Street Grill is making the most of this. BJ's has not at all fallen apart ... But the BJ's in the Austin area are few and far between. We went early on a weekday evening and the place was half full. We both ordered the filet mignon, medium rare with 4 fried shrimp. For 30 bucks, the entree only comes with one side. Her steak was raw, all the shrimp were raw, my mashed potatoes were served cold, her Brussels sprouts were a mix of perfectly cooked and chewy raw. Two stars for the friendly staff and atmosphere. $100 meal for two with one drink and the tip.

Very average at best. Service was slow and unorganized. Had to remind the waitress about everything we ordered. Food was average but the fries were really good. The best part was all the games in the decor. I won't be coming back.

lunch was awful, brought in a party 8 for lunch and the resturants manager could have cared less. I had to ask 4 times to turn on the heater, the waitress tried to take our order before the entire party arrived and disappeared when we were ready. We had to go to the hostess to find our waitress twice! The food was fine but the service was terrible. Second time here, and second disappointment. Had an obviously handicapped person with us, but the hostess still made us walk past MANY clean, empty tables to the far end of the room. She was so far ahead of us that I would have had to shout to get her attention, so we followed her. When I asked why she made us walk that far, she asked if we wanted to sit somewhere else (no comment). Ordered the fajita salad because the photo on the menu showed tortilla chips with the salad, but the actual salad had just a few small tortilla strips in it. Seems like fast and rushed food. Probably wouldn't reorder.

Get on the list. Party of 5, booth fits at least 6.They send you an automated text saying your table will be ready in 5 minutes. You walk into the restaurant. Stand at the front for 30 minutes. There's 3 open booths and your told your table still isn't ready. This was the second chance at 54 because the first time we came the food was bland and not good. Would not recommend. I ordered the kids' flank steak, for my baby, which was not only rock hard but also had a disturbing smell that resembled something rotten. It reminded me of a smell like 48-hour-old period blood on a pad--absolutely unappetizing. There was no way I would feed that to my child. I ordered the ribeye for myself, priced at $29, and while it was pink inside, it was incredibly dry and hard to the touch. Not sure how they managed that combination, but it wasn't enjoyable. I am not the guy to come to yelp and leave a negative review, but given that the phone line doesn't give you direction to speak to a manager onsite I feel I have no other choice as it is a health hazard. A family member had a fajita plate delivered this past Sunday and was severely ill for the following 24 + hours. She thinks it was the veggies that come with it. Truthfully, still cannot eat more than crackers. I'd be more than happy to speak to a manager if there is a way to reach out.
