I have been to salons all over Seattle, and the East Coast. It wasn't until I had my hair cut by Collin Taylor, that I finally became loyal to one stylist. Was looking for a new style. My stylist was very helpful in making suggestions and giving me ways to deal with it while it was growing out. Colorist was also excellent. My 24-year old daughter had another stylist who was also excellent -- as good as she said she found in NYC.

I don't believe in supporting corporate salons like Gene Juarez and frankly I am not impressed with their ugly salon decor, product pricing and selection, or the overall "salon" experience they offer. However, I was referred to Colin at the downtown location and I think he is the best hairdresser in Seattle. I had almost given up on GJ until I found him. He is very intelligent, well educated...

I had a fruit infusion peel that was absolutely heavenly--I ended up buying three of the products used! I was running too late for the foot bath so I went directly in. i admit the salon side of GJ is a bit hyped up, but take a step into the spa & hopefully your mind will change. granted on a weekend, it can be as busy as in the salon, but all measures are taken to try to make your experience relaxing-w/fluffy robes, comfy sandals,stress relieving foot soaks,ambiatic mosaic fountains,steam &swiss showers-& those are just the added amenities included w/every...

Now living in Scottsdale, Arizona I figured I would find a salon that exceeded Gene Juarez but I am sad to report nobody here does my nails the way Gene Juarez (and charge the same if not more!) Nobody does my hair the way my stylist in Seattle does. I have not had a massage or pedicure since my recent arrival so I cannot report on those services but overall, Gene Juarez is tops!
