Expensive for what it is
Wait staff was very friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. Great wine and bourbon selection. We were seated right next to the host stand on a busy night, therefore patrons waiting for their tables were in our space—that was mildly annoying for our dining experience. Will absolutely go again, very happy to have Grindstone in Westfield.
The food was good for typical bar food. The service was slow. We had a reservation but they seemed overwhelmed dealing with the volume of people. We had to wait then they confused us with another reservation for the same time. I think things will be worse when the weather improves.
Everything at Grindstone is solid yet..... Our mashed potatoes were only luke warm (hot potatoes were provided). $3 ice tea is $1 too much. The value would be better at a dollar or two less. This place like every new place is about as noisy as I can stand. I have to lean into the person next to me to be heard. I do not want to yell across a table while I am dining. With all of this, this was our second visit and we will return.
There were 4 in my party. All adults. We enjoyed our experience and our meals. Area for improvement: vegetable side dishes. 2 of us had the green beans and found them to be bland and under cooked. The mixed vegetables were even worse. They too were under cooked, tasted earthy and lack any seasoning. These had to be sent back for a substitute. My third time here and it was fine. Food was standard and service was slower than in past.
Food great. Service provided by Dakota outstanding, per usual! The noise level impedes the ability to have any group conversation.
The temperature of the restaurant was very hot! Other than that, which was uncomfortable, the service was excellent. They had my reservation, my guests were seated appropriately even though I had not arrived first. Our waitress was excellent. The food tasted great. A few people in my party of 8 shared a meal. It was nice that they received an extra plate - yet we are used to the kitchen splitting it before the meal arrives at the table.
It was nothing special. A step above TGIF. Since it was our first time dining, we asked what was the popular dish to order. Our waiter, who was very good and attentive, indicated that the burgers were a popular item so we ordered 2 of the burgers. They were not that good, the patties were super thin . It was good to check out this new establishment, but there’s too many other places to go to, so we don’t foresee going back there.
