WHO WE ARE Growing up in Indiana is a privilege. Our love is growing unique restaurants in the Midwest. It’s our roots. It’s in our DNA. It’s tradition. It’s family, and it’s hard work. We come by it naturally though. After all, it started through the generations with our father & grandfather, Carl Fogelsong. A man who initially executed his vision and was eventually named to the Indiana Restaurant Hall of Fame. Since 1965 our business remains committed to its roots: love of community, friends and family, and a universa... read more

I usually love eating here, and I come all the time. Today I sat down and waited for 10 minutes for my waiter to come and talk to us. We ordered our drinks and thankfully they came out fairly quick. After reviving our drinks we proceeded to waited 20-25 minutes for our server to come talk to us again and get our food order. I understand that on a Saturday night you will wait a little, and servers get busy. I love coming here, but only seeing our server to order drinks, order food, and get the bill was overall a bad experienc... read more
I made a reservation weeks before and we had a guest with a food allergy. The restaurant said they would be fine to accommodate and then when it came time to order they refused. Food allergies aren’t a new thing and it was unfortunate we tried to plan ahead and it still was dismissed.
We had a 5:30 reservation and upon arrival there were plenty of open spaces but they crowded five of us into a 4-person booth. We asked to be moved but were told NO as they had other reservations for those tables. The place was half full. Im only 5’5” with short legs, and I spent the evening kicking my husband as there was no place for my legs to go as I was right on top of him at a 90 degree angle. Very disappointing. Waitress Jill was very attentive. Food was so so - beef short ribs were extremely over salted and three hou... read more
We visited Grindstone on the Monon on Saturday, July 20 at 2pm with a party of 6. The server spilled a glass of coke on my husband and me and apologized. She then brought napkins and cloths to dry up the mess, but no manager came to see what the issue was and no effort was made to compensate for us having wet clothing while eating our meal. We were very surprised about this since a manager is usually walking around seeing how everything is. We told our guests how much we like this restaurant and that is another reason we wer... read more
Clearly you are understaffed for a busy Saturday. Waiting way too long for a waitress to introduce herself, waiting too long for drinks, food was average at best, kids pizza gross, mahi dry.... general miserable experience...hire more people... I dont even blame our waitress, we could tell she was working hard, she was just being over worked.
I had made a note that we were celebrating my wife’s birthday and neither the hostess nor the server acknowledged it. Server was not very attentive and the food was just mediocre. We ordered dessert and they were not very good either. We told our server that, and he said we should try another one next time and did not offer to adjust the bill. The restaurant was also very warm and my wife’s dinner was lukewarm. We will not be returning.
Had chicken and noodles over mashed potatoes and it was awful. Right out of a can!!
Food was not impressive. Overcooked steak and dry bread on sandwich. First trip…no plans to return.
Be careful when ordering wine! I thought I was ordering a $13 glass of wine but ended up being charged for a “9 oz pour” of a more expensive wine we did not order @ $24/ glass. Let them know which size you want as in our experience after one person at the table ordered the 9 oz pour the server did not ask the rest of us. Better value to order the bottle if your table will have 2 - 9 oz pours of the same wine. And check the pricing on your bill matches the menu price. Also we liked the bar atmosphere but our table of 6 was pa... read more
