Any account of the Harbor View's history must begin with Edgartown, its legendary birthplace. Settled in 1671, this early colony steadily came to be known as a prime port for whaling. And as that enterprise grew, so too did Edgartown, in both prominence and influence. In fact, by mid-1800, this bustling municipality had become the Vineyard's wealthiest. But as the whaling industry began to ebb, Edgartown officials turned their attention to a new source of prosperity: tourism. With ambitions of building the finest resort o... read more

Nice Hotel but Late Check In The hotel is quaint and the staff is very nice and knowledgeable about the history of the hotel and island. The food was surprisingly good, the grounds were clean and well maintained and the views are just beautiful. Our room was clean and they gave us a free upgrade which was very nice with beautiful views. The only negative for me was the 4 pm check in time. We arrived there about noon and wanted to put our bags away and was excited to begin our 2 day stay on the island. The check-in staff info... read more
Great service, great location, needs "refreshing" My wife and I stayed here for a birthday overnight during Labor Day Weekend. Overall very enjoyable. PROS: Very friendly and helpful staff, located a short walk from the shops and restaurants in Edgartown, quiet area, very pretty view of the water across the street. CONS: Needs to be "refreshed." Peeling paint here and there, mildewy smell in our room, our toilet handle was broken, and only warm water (not hot) in our shower. I expect that in a $70/night chain hotel by the hi... read more
Great views but bad rooms at $500/night While the hotel has the best views from its porch, and best location in Martha's Vineyard, I would suggest you just go there for cocktails and dinner. Our room in the Mayhew section had wet carpets, a dehumidifier, sliding door that didn't lock on the first floor and a TV setup that didn't have a channel guide. At $500/ night, we had expected better accommodations and amenities. We of course notified the staff of the water problem which had bygoing on long enough to cause water damage ... read more
Superb customer service- Jarwin was very helpful. Beautiful location The accommodations were good - the room was very clean and comfortable. Renovations were in progress but did not interfere with stay. Old time elegance- very laid back.
Great location and vibe The staff were friendly and so helpful with recommendations. Even though we only stayed one night it was wonderful. Definitely want to come back and stay longer. Walking distance to everything. Close to the beach and shops/restaurants. Perfect location.
Nice hotel close to beach and shopping Very enjoyable staff was exceedingly nice and accommodating. The room was clean and the food was very good . I would stay again if opportunity arose. The pool was also heated and was big enough for all to enjoy
