We had a great time after work at Kramers! It was a Wednesday so they have 50% off wine bottles, which is an amazing deal! We also tried their frozen cocktails, and they were delicious. I loved the Summer special lobster roll and we tried three of their pizzas, the chicken pesto, mushroom, the Hawaiian! Even though I'm not a huge fan of pineapple on my pizza, the Hawaiian impressed me actually with the balance of sweet and spicy! We sat on the back covered patio area, which was very airy and full of light! Browse some books,... read more
Afternoon tea was delightful! It's well-priced for what you get. It's not a ton of food so don't arrive too hungry! If you are still hungry, you can order off of the regular menu. The scones were our favorite part. The patio that tea is served on isn't air conditioned (or at least not well) so plan accordingly. Drinking hot tea on a summer day might not be everyone's *ahem* cup of tea (sorry had to say it). All in all, I'd go back!
My husband and I frequently travel to DC, and Kramers is always a must-stop when we visit. I find the staff so friendly and helpful, and they always have the book I'm looking for.
Incredibly curated bookstore, and the restaurant is a bonus (great brunch spot!) All the bookstore staff are cheerful and supportive, and Layne especially was super helpful in finding what books I needed!
Bookstore review. We did grab some dinner too but see Kramers All Day Restaurant for that one. I loved this little bookstore. I met my cousin for dinner and we spent time before and after exploring the shelf's. Loved the layout and intimate vibe. Everything seems well organized and it all made sense to me and sections were clearly labeled. I enjoyed the bookstore so much I couldn't leave without grabbing at least one book.
Ehh ok spot if you're in the area. Service was slow for a not so busy night. Forgot stuff on sandwiches, pasta lacked a little luster. The concept of a book store/restaurant/bar is cool.
I love, love, loved this place. A full-fledged bookstore with tons of books, sections, accessories and gifts PLUS a legit breakfast/lunch/dinner restaurant with great food, gorgeous patio/dining area? I am SO in. We stopped in bc my husband's last name is Kramer and it's spelled the exact same and I saw the brunch/breakfast options and wanted to eat here. We loved it. Tried the avocado toast, brioche French toast and a smash burger and everything was delicious. Service was good, food was out quickly, portions were... read more
Went here for lunch. I ordered the steak frites medium well. The steak was delicious. We also shared some deviled eggs and wings as a table of six overall the food was solid and at first I thought I would come back, however after we paid our $280 bill and we sat at the table for about 10-15 as we were waiting for our friend to use the bathroom , the server came overand said, "hey not to kick you out but we do need a the table, sorry ." I think the wording of the request and being rushed out quickly after paying felt a bit... read more
A DC institution, I will always be a fan of Kramers. It's not the best restaurant, but it's a classic that I hope remains open for decades and decades to come. Service is great, prompt and professional, and some of the items are hit or miss, but there is a lot of light lunch fare to choose from and my salad was fresh. Make sure to stop in at the bookstore at the end of your meal.
