I had a great experience! I had planned a cut/color with my hairdresser for the day before a 4 day conference I had to attend. My stylist came down with Covid. I decided to go with hair color at Madison Reed. Not gonna lie, the reviews had me scared. But it was super easy. My stylist, Alex, explained the process, told me about my service/subscription options and most importantly, got the color exactly right. I went in for a certain color but was told I couldn't because it's not what they do...? For reference, I naturally have dark brown hair and I had a bayalage a long time ago that I tried to cover up myself at home. I wanted a copper color but I think I would have to lighten my hair first and then get it dyed. The hair stylist explained why it couldn't be done, at the time, and showed me what color would work, and I chose a dark brown with golden undertones. I LOVED it. Waitlin the Assistant Manager is delightful; very sweet and kind. I dropped by here today, just to make an appointment. The pretty, smiling lady at the entrance desk said they would be happy to take me right away. That was great news for me. I asked her a couple of questions about my color. Great place for roots and highlight. I loved it. I don't need fancy hair salon for $$$$ and I was bit tired of even look for another salon to another. Each salon I went, it easily exceeded $400 for anything. So with that reason, I was really really looking for something else. I think this place is for people who knows their hair a lot, so you can ask what color to be and you will dry your hair by yourself. I get their color system delivered to me. It has EVERYTHING, and I mean EVERY LITTLE THING- you need to do it at home successfully! From a barrier cream you put on your forehead just under your hairline and all around & ears- to a wipe with enough stuff to get it off anywhere you didn't want it to be! LOL!!! It SMELLS GOOD. NO CHEMICAL smell at ALL! I've never been more satisfied with an at home hair dye system. I'm a user for the rest of my grey hair days!

The staff is awesome and gives great customer service but this place is not good for curly hair. The formula and toner for the balayage is harsher than anything I've had before and is very orange. Not a good look for me but at least the staff was nice. They really are overbooked though. This business model is really troubling to me and it concerns me how overworked the staff seemed.
