Let me start by saying I like the Madison reed product itself, however the color bar on Third and 67th on the upper east side is seriously lacking in customer service and cleanliness. I've been there twice now hoping that the first experience I had was just a fluke. I am writing to warn my NYC community about the Manager at 1140 3rd Ave, UES Madison Reed, who damaged my hair when I received her services for highlights and root coverage on March 25, 2025. This service caused my hair to break due to unprofessional application of hair products. I've been a loyal Madison Reed customer for over seven years, but the salon at this location is by far the worst I've experienced. I've given it multiple chances, hoping for improvement, but the service has only gotten worse each time. tit was my first visit, a bit caiotic. I opted for root touch up and face framing highlights. I don't believe I got the technicians name. it was not on my reciept either. roots came out fine highlights were bright orange. I had mentioned to the tech in the beginning that I did not like any red in my hair. I also had some previous highlights that she could see. The staff here is not trained properly and they have no idea how to do color properly on clients with blonde hair. The colorists do not know how long to leave the bleach on and my hair comes out different every time I go. They are also understaffed at times and leave you sitting there forever waiting for someone to come wash your hair.

When I walked in the woman standing at the register did not even look up after 5 minutes of me standing there i was told to go sit in a chair again without her even looking at me. Only two of the chairs on the station have actual mirrors, all the rest pass around small mirrors. My first visit to this Madison Reed salon was a big disappointment. I did not receive the results i wanted, even i explained what should be done. My hair color at the back of my head is much darker than the front. I wanted it to be fixed when i came to the salon. But it was not. Chutney at 63rd and 3rd ave, nyc, was horrible. I asked her to keep my hair light, she did not. I told her it was not right. She said that is what I asked for and it was light. She argued with me and was very nasty. Nellie said she would fix my hair. When I came back the following week Nellie was fantastic! She spent 3 1/2 hours fixing my hair. She was beyond nice. I previously got color here a year ago and figured why not treat myself to a pre birthday treat. I arrived early and do agree with the review previously about no one coming to greet you.
