This replaces a different brand which had served us well for 12 years. Ease of use, including emptying the filter basket and speeds of cycle time on the Polaris are just stunning.

Cleans pool well but has an issue getting caught up on the bottom drain and just spins around, this happens at least 50% of the time and I have to move it by hand to get it to circulate the rest of the pool. would be better if it had the ability to maneuver over the bottom drain instead of spinning on it like a turtle on its back.

Love the 8050, but can’t seem to find the optional filter in Canada for picking up silt or sand.

Works great. The only con is the cord to the polaris. It is stiff and gets twisted up making it hard to roll up to store. I owned a Dolphin Supreme and the cord was very flexible and rolled up easy. I like the 1 piece basket over the Dolphin. The 60ft cord is just very aggravating and wish it would roll up easy. Reminds me of old hose pipes that fight you when rolling it up. Not sure why the engineers didnt catch this when designing it. Thanks

Here are some suggestions to improve the cord tangling issue: 1) Remove the cleaner from the pool and lay the cable across the pool deck to relieve coiled memory; 2) Allow the cleaner cable to enter the pool at the center of the length of the pool; 3) Only use enough cable to reach the farthest point from the cable entry location; 4) Gently toss the necessary cable across the pool water for even distribution instead of dropping the cable in a lump in one spot. Nice unit! Replaced old Aqua Bot, love the rinse out debris box! Only wish would be a way around the timer!
