I've owned 2 mx8 in the past and they performed well for about 5 years each time. The new Maxx version seems to clean better than the others. I noticed that inside,it no longer has the twisting paddle mechanism of its predecessors. I only hope this one will last longer.

After finally firing my pool man who didn’t show up regularly nor ever do a thorough job, I plunged into the world of DIY pool maintenance. I started by buying the Polaris Maxx as it got good reviews and the price was right with the $100 rebate. The Maxx is very easy to set up: there are no electronics to deal with, just hook up the tubes to the cleaner and the skimmer pump.
