Polly I left you a message as well. This is a normal occurrence on certain types of carpet that contain a latex-based glue in the backing. Humidity will cause it to expand due to the clay in the material. As the carpet dries and acclimates it will naturally just go back to the flat state. So please don't worry this is not permanent.
