This was our first visit to Saltlik although several of our friends had highly recommended it for their great steak! The opportunity to give the restaurant a try during Taste of Calgary was perfect and we will definitely return. The meal was excellent and the prices were right in line with the Calgary food scene.
My wife and I both agreed that are steaks were the best we've had.
Our waiter had a job performance review while serving us...After the first glass of wine, we never saw him again to pour another or ask how our meal was until we were finished our meal. We had to pour our own wine...not cool in a "high end" restaurant like the Saltlik. As regular customers to your fine establishment, we expect nothing but the best in service that matches the best steak in Calgary.
My boyfriend and I went here for date night because we wanted something new we had the calimari to start which was to die for followed by a filet mignon and New York strip accompanied with the brocolli and seasonal vegetables my boyfriend not being a big vegetable eater was obsessed with the brocolli he ate it all before his steak and me being a once or twice a year beef eater I could order that filet every day of the week it was amazing. Highly suggested will defiantly be back!
The food was really over salted. Steaks were good, not great. Sides were salty especially mushrooms. The wine list is lacking for a steakhouse. Had the shrimp cocktail to start that had about 8 shrimp on it. Could have had 4-5 nicer ones. Overall impression is this restaurant is ok but not great. Service was slow to start but picked up later. We probably waited 20 minutes before our drinks came.
The food here is usually good - lots of variety for people for people who don't want steaks too. Have to say I had really poor service the last time I was there. Server was unfriendly and extremely slow. They seem to have had some staff changes recently - maybe that was the issue.
Excellent hostess to waitress to food. Overall great experience !
I took my wife for dinner last Sunday night and we had a wonderful time, first with dinner then we sat at the bar for a while after. From start to finish the staff was friendly, polite and efficient. For dinner my wife had the Grilled Salmon while I had the Valentine's special Prime Rib. The food was very nicely done but I was disappointed with the portion size of the prime rib which left me still hungry despite being more expensive that the regular steak entrees which I've always found to be quite filling.
