So I've been at Sonora twice, once for 10 days, and once for 12, both times in their level 1 Sabino unit. The staff have been helpful, listened to my problems, giving me things to write with, etc... The docs only work weekdays, aside from on-call, so if you aren't quite ready to be released on Friday you /will/ wait for Monday even if you are stable enough on Saturday. That can be a bit upsetting. The main problems with Sonora, and there are two, are as follows: 1. The food is terrible. If I nearly exit your facility with a... read more

this is my 3rd visit for bipolar in 15 years to mental hospitals and by far sanora exceeds what others have to offer. they have 3 hot meals a day that include soda or iced/hot caffeinated coffee which no one offers. 5 cigarette breaks which no one offers. groups throughout the day. a tv room. and out of a 6 day stay 4 of those days were a caring and fun staff the other days i hated the staff for the most part. i found this to be the best mental health staff in tucson so far for emergency treatment. i recommend. jenni l.

This was my 1st time going to a mental health hospital, let me say I was on sabino unit and spent 8 days there for severe depression and suicidal , I was treated with such care from many awesome nurses , techs were amazing caring awesome people !and also the psych that sees you almost daily, the group sessions are ran by people that really care about what they are doing ! They are all heroes , because they have tons of paper work, they have to be police officers, there jobs are extremely hard and I soo appreciate them all , ... read more

If I could give zero stars I would. This facility should be closed. We completed all of the twenty pages of paperwork, were guaranteed a bed for our daughter, who is in crisis, and they gave away the bed to a walk-in!!! Now we're scrambling to find help for our daughter. The admin staff showed zero empathy, zero accountability, and left us in the cold! Authorities should investigate for closure.

A woman that helps there in evenings helped bathe me wife ans dug her nails in her arm and marked them with scratches. I will get my lawyer on it to check this place out. Very bad behavior.

What a nightmare! There is absolutely no emotional support and no treatment. You just sit and sleep. There's no books, no activities, zero exercise. If you go in for depression from chronic pain, get ready to be in twice as much pain. If you're depressed, there treatment is making you sit or lay in your cot with only your thoughts. I'm sure in some instances, that place could cause you to become depressed. You feel like you're in jail. Even if you are voluntary. They treat you like a child or 2nd (actually 4th) class citizen... read more

As a counselor that has worked at an impatient facility for adults and teens back east, Sonora Behavioral Health often markets their facilities to school counselors & the like. Both having visited a friend there and young adults sharing their experiences, I felt it necessary to make a statement that I too, give it a NEGATIVE REVIEW. Disappointed to hear from many that what takes place in reality in this facility is not how it is marketed. No direct counseling available or offered. No therapy tailored for individual or gro... read more
