DONT SEND YOUR KIDS! I took my daughter out when she witnessed one child strangle another on 3 separate occasions in 12 hours. I asked staff for an explanation and literally was told it was "school yard antics". When I picked my kid up, they asked me for tactics to make it safer because they were unsure how to make that happen (for real). I have worse stories (way worse) from other parents, but those aren't my stories to share.

I had to be hospitalized there on twelve different occasions. Each time for my depression or suicide attempt. To start off when I would be taken into the main adolescent unit the staff working would usually say things like "your back again we thought we got rid of you" or "you must love to make a joke of illnesses." There were two specific staff members who would constantly try and get a patient to snap just so they could have one less kid to watch. Well I can vouch for the crappy reviews this place gets. The psychiatrists there just dole out pills and don't listen to you about adverse side effects. I felt dizzy and out of it on the meds they gave me and the dr poo-pooed it saying it will go away. Well it hasn't. I was better of smoking mj! I'm ready to flush that crap. Also the so called therapy is a joke. A beast woman with no medical training at all conducted a session and me and fellow patients, ie prisoners, got her to admit she was reading a prepared script. After reading all this I'm afraid. My baby is there right now. Has been for 5 days! Now it all makes sense to me! OMG! I need to pick her up ASAP!

Before I rant, Let met just say that I am a 16 year old female. This is not a mental hospital. It is a prison. I am not exaggerating when I say that. I stayed here during the Summer for a week (Even though, it was only supposed to be "three days") for depression. This "hospital" made things worse compared to before I even got there. This facility was such a living nightmare that just over a year later I still recall with horror the things I heard and saw there. I dove into survival mode and went with the flow to get out ASAP. I was there from Friday until Monday when a doctor finally came in and evaluated and discharged me. As a former patient here, I can't say I enjoy even giving this place a star at all. I was a patient there years ago and I was honestly better off traveling any length than landing in this place. I don't know where to begin because from day one there were issues and mostly thanks to the staff and their awful attitude in this job. I wish I could give this negative stars as a review. I had the worst experience of my life. I had never been in a hospital like this before, and never do I EVER want to return to another one like it! And I was only there for 4 days! I was admitted to Sonora on Monday, at 8 in the morning. First, I was left alone in a room with a desk to fill out paperwork. First of all, they don't have counselors/doctors. I went in on a Thursday night for detox and self harming and was out Tuesday afternoon. Met with a psychiatrist twice. Never got a chance to express how I was feeling. I mean, if you're in a mental hospital, clearly there's something that needs to be addressed. Secondly, a friend of mine in there was not ready to be discharged, and told them he was still suicidal, and they made him leave. That is not okay.
