I would give this place a zero star if I could. I was brought here from Oro Valley hospital that highly recommend them for depression. I was promised counseling by professionals, but all i got was medicated and group therapy run by other patients. Total waste of time. Save your money and go elsewhere.

My fiancé went here a couple weeks ago for alcohol detox. I would give it a half star if I could. It is actually worse than a prison. No one there communicates! AT ALL!! I was listed on the release of information, actually the ONLY one on it. I was never informed of a patient code. I had to drive over there & stand in the lobby to get ANY information the ENTIRE 5 days he was there, even once I had the appropriate code. If I did get any sort of info, it was always incorrect. Visitation is only 4 times a week for 30 mins. ... read more

Where to begin? I had the unfortunate experience staying at Sonora following a suicide attempt. While some may say this makes me mentally ill, I can assure the reader I suffer from no medically diagnosed psychiatric illness. Before I begin my evaluation of Sonora, let me do say that there were two wonderful employees without whose generous assistance I can assuredly say my nightmare at Sonora would have been untenable. One is a female nurse supervisor and the other is a female social worker (not to be confused with Steph... read more

Do NOT let your child spend a minute in this facility. Our daughter was admitted there because she ran away from a local rehab. The staff there is totally incompetant. Our daughter had all her medication taken away from her. Meds she had been on for 5 years, antidepressants, ADHA meds. The kids there have nothing to do. The staff puts on a Disney movie once a day and that is the extent of any activities. No therapy at all. She said the place is filty, her clothes reflected that, the shower has visible mold. Her shoes were s... read more

The story is so long that I don't know how or where to begin. My son was admitted because he wanted to be evaluated by a psychiatrist for his many mental issues. The experience - every single part of it - was a complete nightmare. I have never experienced such incredible incompetence. It was a complete waste of time. And when the bill comes, we will contest every penny of it. Tucson is in dire need of a GOOD psych hospital. Sonora isn't the answer. I don't know what the answer is, but we'll keep looking, and in the meantime... read more

Hi, I'm Jasmine. I was 16 when I had my first stay here, and I swear it was my last. To say it was horrible, would be an understatement. Every adolescent at some point experiences suicidal thoughts, and expresses them in their own way. I was brought to TMC and then escorted to Hell. AKA Sonora. To begin with, this place had NO separation whatsoever. I was roomed with a young Philopino girl, (who had some serious mental issues) who constantly asked the "RN"s for pencils to stab me. They didn't give them to her, but they als... read more

I was horrified by some of the things I was told and some of the things I heard and witnessed as a patient at Sonora Behavioral Health. I was there 1 year ago, for 4 days when I was 36 years old. I had been hospitalized 4 years ago at another mental health hospital so I kinda new what to expect, or so I thought. The most damaging thing was that the staff gossiped, talked negatively, and spoke openly about other patients symptoms and treatment right in front of me and other patients, and they did this many times. HIPPA violat... read more

I think this place was HORRIBLE. I was sent here after a week at the CRC (crisis response center) because I had attempted suicide. I was put into the adolescent/youth unit. After I was finally done with the evaluation, I went to bed. Then I was awoken by someone of the staff coming through the door, YELLING my name, telling me they needed my vitals. They left the door WIDE open, where the staff where all being loud and socializing. It was like a prison there. They yell at you as if they were cops in a prison. They treat you ... read more

Where do I begin? I was stationed at Fort Huachuca, AZ when I was hospitalized here for PTSD twice. The first time they put me on Lorazepam 3xday for a week and a half. When they discharged me, I didn't get a prescription for it. I went through withdrawal, having panic attacks without triggers and didn't sleep for 6 days straight. I flipped out mid-panic attack and nearly got arrested on base before landing myself back at Sonora the second time. I remember the RN that told me, "We love it when people relapse; it generates re... read more
