Just going to pop in and obnoxiously love on our friends at Taurus again. Lightning Bug stayed with them again this Easter, and they now offer the opportunity for boarding dogs to purchase some one-on-one time with balls or games of tug. It was a hard trip, and getting a little report card about how much our dog loved ball time (I know) and tug time (oh gosh) just made me feel so grateful to have Taurus on our team. I love this place, and even better, my pup loves this place. But my review is going to specifically be about the dog trainer, Lizbeth, that works at this location. Lizbeth is the DOG BOMB! Seriously, don't be fooled by her sweet demeanor and bad ass style. This girl is an alpha when it comes to leading the pack. We're big fans of Taurus Academy's Burnet location. We've boarded our puppy twice for extended times, and both times we feel we got good value for our money. We took her here initially because this location was more responsive than the airport and McNeil locations when we called about getting her a trial evaluation day. Not only did the Burnet folks pick up the phone, they got her scheduled for an evaluation day the following weekend. I love leaving my staffie mix, Felix, at Taurus Burnet because the staff members are all dog trainers. When I return from my trip, it's obvious that Felix has had a behavior tune-up at Taurus. For example, Felix struggles with being an Excessively Excited Extrovert when interacting with humans - this behavior has been hard to curb because most people respond positively to his exuberance, thus reinforcing it. I cannot say enough good things about Taurus! We just got a Whippet puppy in May, and were having trouble with separation anxiety. We did a puppy consult, and Angela helped so much! She even texted me a few times the next day as we started implementing crate training. AND THEN this past weekend we had to board her for this first time. She still gets a little nervous when we leave her, so we were worried. I really wanted to love Taurus, but I was left under-whelmed. I used to bring my low-to-medium energy staffie (that specializes in couch snuggles and dog napping) to this location shortly after it opened. Everyone was very nice and they were great with my dog, Benny. I especially loved the personal touch of the report card and the 'surprise gift' that they send you in the mail -- such cute ideas! This review is for boarding only. Our dog seems to love it here, and that is what counts. She comes back happy and well exercised. They have also been flexible with late pickups on more than one occasion when I had car trouble. The facilities are new, and I get the feeling that they do care about your pet and are thoughtful about grouping the right dogs together. For all these reasons, they are still my go-to. We take our 2.5 year old husky Niya to Taurus every Wednesday for play days and she loves it. My review can only comment on the play days since we haven't utilized any of the training or the boarding but if those are anything like what they get during play days, I am sure they are worthy of 5 stars. This place is the dog's woof! (That doesn't work like 'the cats meow' does it?) My dog, Hailey, loves it here. She has been coming here for a couple months now and just can't seem to get enough of the play days. (A hundred tail wags a minute when we pull into the parking lot tells me this).
