Have been wanting to try the Commodore for some time, and with a friend's birthday was the perfect occasion. Service was attentive without being intrusive - drinks and food were exceptional, and the overall atmosphere was perfect for a special occasion - plan on coming back for time at the (2) spacious, but comfortable bar areas.

We went here on a Tuesday night to celebrate my wife's birthday. There are a number of dining "rooms" but we were seated in the main one. Even though it was only 2/3 full, it was quite loud. Conversation was not easy but we managed. Patrons were a mixed bag age-wise and dress, too, with some men in jackets and others in jeans. The other dining rooms offered more in the way of "retro/F Scott Fitzgerald" vibe, but those rooms featured lower tables (e.g. not specifically dining but more like cocktails and bar food). Exceptional service and cuisine. Nostalgic and romantic atmosphere. A fun time travel experience in a historic setting. A perfect location for anniversaries and special occasions.

The noise level in the main dining room is high enough to make conversation difficult. Too many hard surfaces reflecting sounds. Management needs to evaluate the cheapest way to install noise absorbing panels to lower the background noise.

Great history with this place, back to my parents' wedding in the 40's, meeting our friend's wife to be in the 80's. Slow roasted salmon and tenderloin were fabulous. Love the lobster deviled eggs. Charming server, tho it seemed the kitchen got backed up around desert. Birthday desert was comped- a nice gesture. Definitely will return for cocktails, dinner when we can afford it!

Enjoyed our 46th wedding anniversary at the Commodore. Wonderful ambiance, food and drink. Service was excellent. Quite pricey, but worth it for a special occasion. Only problem we could find was the noise level. It became difficult at times to carry on our conversation because we couldn't hear each other. Still, a wonderful experience.
