Dr. Lal helped with my delivery while at Bryn Mawr hospital. In my experience she is not a good Dr. & I would avoid seeing her. When I was trying to ask her questions & share concerns I felt like she was not listening to me. She kept cutting me off & saying something different than what I was asking. At one point the nurse stepped in & corrected her to help explain what I was saying. I feel like she became a MD for the wrong reasons. She has very poor bedside manner when it comes to patient care. It made my whole delivery ex... read more
Maybe he is better for OB patients and less so GYN, as he seems to have great reviews from mothers. I wanted to switch my birth control, and had to change doctors after moving, so I thought he would be great because of so many 5 star reviews. Unfortunately, getting my IUD from him was a horrible experience, and when I visited several months later with issues/concerns about it, he said “a lot of people get it in their head that they’re pain and it’s all mental”. I took off work in order to be at this appointment which resolve... read more
If I can give this Dr 0 stars, I would. He has the worst bedside manner I have ever encountered in a physician. I went to the hospital to be checked if I was in active labor and he told me I can’t come in, which contradicted everything I’ve been told by my OBGYN. He then told me I wasn’t dilated at all and to go home, which 2 previous OBGYNs told me I was 2cm? The worst experience, if my water broke right now, I would take my chances and go to another hospital rather than deal with him.
Dr Castelli is technically skillful, but has no bedside manner and no clue about perinatal mood disorders. When I presented for my 6 week postpartum check up, he told me that I was fine and that I would get through it despite my nonexistent milk supply, my severe anxiety, suicidal ideation, and my sobbing in his office. Fast forward to a month later... I got admitted to a partial hospitalization program for severe postpartum depression and anxiety when I saw my PCP. Long story short, he's an insensitive jerk who preaches how... read more
Awful. Just awful. He originally called in because he’s good with blood draws and his partner, Dr Hirshman’s, nurses couldn’t handle my veins. He made me uncomfortable right from the beginning but the worst was a hospital visit when he called me “Babydoll” while telling me to lift my legs in an already vulnerable position so he could check my cervix. That made me and my husband super uncomfortable. Then he laughed at me for crying because of the severe pain that brought me to the hospital in the first place. Then after he re... read more

I had to change my OB-GYN to be closer to my job for convenience during my pregnancy appointments. Joseph Castelli had some pretty good reviews, so i figured why not. First couple of appointments were fine. My last appointment with him was terrible. First he had an intern with him which is nothing wrong with that.. he sent an intern to examine me and see for any concerns. 2 minutes later, he knocked on the door and asked the intern to come with him to go see another patient. This confused me, because i thought Castelli was c... read more
Dr. Castelli is personable and professional in demeanor. He shows care and concern for his patients.
I trusted this doctor with my first pregnancy. He dismissed my concerns when I knew something was wrong until it was far far too late. I ended up delivering too early for my baby to survive because of his negligence. I was told by a specialist that he knew my diagnosis and should have done a cerclage procedure and just chose not to. Maybe he doesn't know how to do them or have the skill to do them. He is a very poor Dr. and no one who cares about their pregnancy should choose him.
