My mother lived at Aegis Living in Granada Hills. I should have written a review a while back whilst the employee names who were so valuable to my mother's health and dignity were fresh in my mind. The entire Aegis team was so wonderful to my mom. They treated my entire family as if we were their family. Lance Shenk, the Director, was so nice to us. Thank you Aegis for taking care of my mother with such grace, kindness and concern up until her passing last month. I cannot recommend this place enough. My mother lived there for the last two years of her life, when her dementia was such that we could no longer safely care for her. It is very hard when a family member can't live on his own. We were so grateful we found Aegis of Granada Hills. Facilities, care and staff were outstanding. The people there are like Christine Low who always goes the extra mile for her residents. She always encouraged our brother to participate in various activities. After a fall, and a short stay in the hospital, our 84-year-old mother, who had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's, ended up in a skilled nursing facility. As a result, she was restricted to a wheelchair and needed help transitioning. Her long-term memory was good, but short-term was not. I had to place my Mother in to Memory Care in 2015. I researched many places and sought the advice of others. I have never EVER regretted placing my Mother in Memory Care at Aegis Living of Granada Hills. She has always been given her dignity and treated with the utmost care. I had to put my mother in an assisted living about two years ago because of dementia. I dreaded the decision. The first place I took her looked good on the outside but behind the doors of the memory area, in particular, was very depressing. How We Came to Aegis For our family, the decision to move our parents to Assisted Living was not an easy one. We approached the topic several times and every time, we were met with strong opposition. I couldn't be more pleased with Aegis. I have researched high and low for the right place (budget permitting) for my mom who has severe Alzheimer's and Aegis is by far more superior then the ones I had researched. The staff at Aegis is absolutely wonderful and they treat my with compassion, care, dignity and respect. My parents moved to Aegis from the Bay area. My mother was only a resident for two months before she passed away. The staff rallied around my family and spent extra time with my father. It really is a family environment and they strive to make the residents feel loved and appreciated. My father had been at Aegis for two years and was recently accepted into the Veterans Home of California. This move was hard but the Veterans home was free and we had been on a wait list for years.
