My experience with my hip replacement surgery was exceptional. I can't begin to Express how fortunate I was to have my surgery with Dr. Mclawhorn. Its been almost 8 weeks and my left hip is strong and flexible.
Dr McLawhorn changed my life. I am doing things now that I have not been able to do in many years. He is a professional of the highest caliber. As a healthcare professional myself, he is everything you hope to find in a Doctor, compassionate, calm, and extremely competent. His knowledge regarding every aspect of my surgery was incredible. I would highly recommend him to any member of my family or friends.
Actually, I enjoyed the experience. The appointments were informative and Dr. McLawhorn is extremely efficient, informative, and kind in answering assorted questions. The staff who work with him are very complimentary of him and the operation and recovery at HSS were as I would have hoped. The staff at the hospital were so expert I felt comfortable to attempt all they requested and taught me. 6 weeks later, and with physical therapy, I am pain free, confident, and glad to have not waited.
From my first visit with Dr.Mclawhorn I felt this is the surgeon for me to do my double knee replacement with. Was so happy I passed all test to be able to to both. I was so calm day of surgery I surprised myself and my sister I know it was because of the Doctors Caring way and I knew I was in good hands Just went for my one year check up and could not be happier He has helped to improve my quality Of life Thank You Dr. McLawhorn and your fantastic team Pamela
Came in not know and very scared about a THR. Dr McLawhorn made me feel at ease and had great bedside manners. Four weeks after surgery I was feeling great again. Now three months later I finally have my life back. I don’t know why I waited 5 years to do this. Next, a total knee replacement once again with Dr McLawhorn! Thank you Dr McLawhorn and the HSS!!!!!!!

Very professional, knowledgeable and personable. He was very thorough in his pre-op evaluation for surgery making sure no other medical conditions would impact a good outcome for his patient. Great surgeon, my surgery went extremely well even with extensive damage to the hip. Had surgery at HSS in Stamford hospital and the whole team was extraordinary which is a testament to Dr. McLawhorn's preparation for his cases. Highly recommend him as your surgeon.
