Love the staff, they are fantastic. Love the location of the community. The food is only okay and could be better. The cost is high when you consider the mediocrity of the food, and the frequency at which repairs are needed (outdated apt units, appliances and AC/heat systems).
Negatives include: no flexibility regarding food offerings and what seems excessive in entry level staff turnover. Many other staff have long tenure which is impressive. Communication could be a LOT better The building is older so it's harder to make it look shiny. Outdoor geese leave their marks on parking lot and driveways. I recommend learning the names of the staff who serve your loved one. Nursing staff good to alert me to incidents. It's centrally located to my family members and I like that my dad can still be independent.
The community is very nice and polite. We chose this place because we knew someone who worked there and the place had a great atmosphere
I think we toured two American Village communities. They were both larger than Kesslerwood and, therefore, had more of an "institutional" feel. But the people we met with were friendly and helpful. In the end, two of the big deciding factors for us were cost and location.
Although there have been recent staffing changes, most of the higher level management has not changed and many have multiple years there. I have seen genuine caring for residents from the entry level staff as well. My mom seems content there.
The staff is friendly and courteous! We enjoy visiting the community and feel at home when we're there. They have lovely grounds and a variety of activities to choose from, as well as outings and shopping trips!
American Village was pretty and landscaping and outside areas, but the community was depressing on the inside.
We love American Village Lincoln lodge. It's actually independent living and just the right level of support. The staff is amazing.
