The Animal ER of University Park, L.L.C. is staffed by veterinarians and licensed or highly experienced veterinary technicians who are physically present during all operating hours. The Animal ER is a well equipped facility with diagnostic, surgical and life-saving equipment. The Animal ER of University Park was created because the people of north Sarasota county and the entirety of Manatee county were having to travel too far for veterinary emergency care which at the time was located in south Sarasota county. I took my furbaby here after she was hit by a car yesterday. I had to put a $500 deposit down before they would do any treatment. My baby had extensive injuries and was eventually laid to rest. My overall bill was over $800. They would not work with me for the balance of the payment ($134) yet there was a sign in the waiting room about a program they had that would help people with the cost. I was told no negotiations for what was owed and I was never offered the program they advertised on their reception wall. My baby recei... read more
Business response:
Marianne, we are saddened by the loss of your furbaby. An emergency permissions form is required in critical cases that explains the costs associated with emergency care and yes deposits ate taken during the intake process. In reviewing your records, it was apparent that you did not qualify for the Compassionate Care program. The requirements are explained in our notes section on this page. Again, please accept our condolences on the loss of your pet due to tragic circumstances.
I would like to thank the staff for the kindness and compassion shown to our sweet dog, Ginger and our family during a very difficult time. The staff is very caring and professional and explained what we should expect during our visit. We were given as much time as we wanted with her, and her passing was very peaceful.

I am so thankful to all staff that took care of my dog Rocky last Saturday 9/23 afternoon when he started having weird behavior 3 hours after 3 vaccination on his regular Vet clinic. I called and immediately the receptionist was so kind and calm asking me what was happening. She explains to me to drive him to the clinic to be taking care of because it could be severe reactions. When I arrived there all the staff that saw him was very professional and Dr. Pam made me feel very comfortable with the situation. Thank you all at... read more

Can't begin to express our appreciation for all the staff and Dr Brittany for the care, compassion and love that we received at a very very difficult time. Thank you so much. Allen and Melanie Rader.
Business response:
Dear Mr. & Mrs. Rader, we cannot begin to tell you how terribly sorry we are that you did not receive the clay paw print of Layla. Layla was most definitely treated with the utmost respect and dignity she deserved. We do however, understand your anger, you are right, there are no second chances for a paw print now and I, personally, am ashamed to say that we did not get this done for you. As explained today, we do not perform the cremation, an outside company does. Layla's remains will be returned to your primary veteri... read more

Considering that the animal ER is the last place we want to be... the staff here is absolutely wonderful. Between all of our pets, we have been here a few times over the years, and always a positive experience. Thank you for taking such good care of our pets!
Business response:
Thank you do much Lori for such praise. We truly appreciate it.
