quiet comfort Pros: Very clean and new. Reasonably priced. Front desk personnel were outstanding, (especially Eric) Cons: Better smoke elimination in Casino Location: Visit Ferndale, only five miles away. A quaint little Victorian town with excellent eateries (Main St Café). Also, the Arcata community forest. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Bear River resort. Was visiting family in Arcata and didn'y see anything in that locale that looked inviting. The BRR fit the bill. An added bonus was a visit to Ferndale, only five mi... read more
Very nice room and super comfortable bed. Pros: Price and comfort of the bed. Cons: Some of the employees were nice, but on a whole we got a bad feeling from many of them. They were kind of gruff. Location: Nothing is right near by. But we were there to see redwood trees and to travel up the northern coast of California. We do not gamble but were in the area to do sightseeing. We walked through the casino, but a lot of people were smoking. Room was large and very nice. Bathroom was very nice. It was huge, but lacked places t... read more
good stay Pros: It was clean and the hotel staff were friendly, Cons: would be good if they had provided a continental breakfast for this price. The location was not that great as this was in a remote place and there were not any restaurants close by
Good stay at newer hotel Pros: The food in the restaurant was very good. Nice newer hotel/casino. Staff was very good. Convenient parking, good food. I would recommend this for people needing a place to stop and rest, or business travelers in the area.
Location and Casino - great combo! Pros: Location Cons: Looser slots! Location: North of the hotel is the Tour through Tree and Sky Trail, both places we would recommend. South is the Avenue of the Giants - a drive worth taking. The hotel room and staff were first class, Very helpful with directions to places. The casino was a nice addition for evening entertainment. The location of the hotel made it easy for us to visit areas of the Redwood Forrest Nat'l Park that were both north and south of us.
Decent casino hotel Cons: No microwave and no refrigerator even a small one in the room. Spent one night there and it was overall acceptable. Easy check in, clean room and some rooms not ours had nice view.
Beautiful view, great rooms, outstanding food. Cons: sometimes you could smell the smoke coming from the casino. Location: Ferndale - great victorian town The staff was excellent, the food was REALLY good, rooms were great
family road trip We stayed for one night during a family road trip and there is not one bad thing I can say about this hotel. It exceeded our expectations in may ways. Great location just 2 minutes off 101 but still totally quiet. Room: the room was clean, very new, good beds, quiet Staff was friendly We ate in the restaurant for dinner and breakfast. The quality was very good and great value for the money. We stayed with kids. The casino is not in your face. I can highly recommend this hotel.
Great great value Pros: Room and King bed Cons: Area around hotel and parking lot. I felt unsafe with casino low life's hanging around. Location: Grea pit stop. There is nothing south of town. North in Eureka there is plenty to check out. Hotel is close to 101 south of Eureka. It was a great night stay on our road trip down the coast. Room was comfortable, big and clean. My only knock is that poor neighborhood that looks to be further depressed by casino taking their monthly checks. We had a terrible view listed as a mountai... read more
