Love Brooklyn Diner, especially this one on 43rd St. Its a real New York City, authentic, noisy, and lovely place. Service Is always good, and you just never know who will walk in. The majority of the wait staff I have met through the years are working actors, learning their craft and working hard at a restaurant. If you tell them you have a theatre engagement, they will get you out in plenty of time to walk to your theatre and wait in line there! Really excellent food - and the desserts, the desserts. Was very crowded for breakfast - so service was a bit slower than usual.
i made reservations for 11;30am on a Saturday for lunch. this time is a very busy time for the diner wrapping up breakfast orders. We waited till 11:45am before ordering lunch. the food were delicious and large portions. Very good place to eat before theater but make your reservations at 12 noon for lunch.

Was as the 43rd street location. I try to stay away from Times Square area b/c too many tourist, but I had tickets to a show and I picked this place solely on it's proximity to the theatre. Wow, what a find. Seating is a bit tight in the front of the restaurant - but this is NYC after all - and I had a nice conversation with the couple seated next to us (likerightnexttous!). Delicious food, great atmosphere and very friendly staff who really are attentive and love to chat with you. Excellent place to have a pre theatre dinner too
The food was quite good but the portions were preposterous for children. There really should be a children's menu as there is a lot of waste and the meals are quite expensive. It would have been helpful if the wait staff shared information regarding portion sizes so we could have considered sharing entrees among the 7 children in our party. The food and the service were outstanding! Our food was delivered quickly and hot. The server checked back several time to make sure we had everything we needed. One of the best cheeseburgers I have had in NYC. Unfortunately, it is a bit pricey, especially the desserts. The Ice cream floats were a whopping $10.50 and an egg cream was $7.50 (yes, that's chocolate syrup and seltzer).
