Pleasantly surprised! I admit it - I wasn't expecting much because of the location and name - thought it was going to be touristy. Wrong! Food was interesting and delicious, service was fine, atmosphere in keeping with the theme but not tacky. Go - you'll be pleasantly surprised too.

What a Find!!!! My wife's birthday and I planned out everything - breakfast/brunch, theater, shopping, dinner. And after getting fantastic tickets from TKTS, we headed over to The Brooklyn Diner. The hostess could not have been more friendly or charming. The waiter could not have been more prompt and courteous and helpful. And the French Toast and Eggs Benedict that we ordered were sublime. Just simply the BEST.

The. Best. Chicken. Soup. Ever. Ask for extra challah. And everything else on the menu is delish: Some highlights include the Asian Chicken Salad, the Perfect Plate, the Burger and the Chicken Pot Pie. Portions are HUGE, so share away, especially the Black & White Milkshake. Now, if they would only bring back the lamb burger, turkey burger and pizza. (A girl can dream.) The staff is warm, welcoming and like family.

My son took me and my daughter out for Mother's Day brunch/ lunch before attending the theatre. I was disappointed to see there were no "brunch" items on the menu. Our waiter suggested we might go to the deli down the street if I wanted eggs. We decided to stay and have lunch. I did have a delicious chicken salad sandwich, my daughter had a tuna salad sandwich and my son had a bacon cheeseburger. I also had a Bloody Mary. The food was excellent, the service was great, but the bill was nearly $100. At that price, I do not thi... read more

This was our third time dining at the Brooklyn Diner. We always come back because we can rely on good service and good food. It was even better this time because we made reservations on the Internet.

I had the filet mignon with palenta. I also has a glass of cabernet savignon. This meal that I had was very good. The meat was tender and very flavorful. The palenta was a fantastic side dish to complement my steak. The caesar salad that I got prior to the meal was very good and a big portion. For desert I had the lemon marangue pie which was excellent and a huge serving and the expresso was fantastic. Our waiter was the best waiter that we had for out entire stay in NYC. He was very attentive and great with our four childre... read more
