I frequent the Brooklyn Diner before the theater quite often and usually I'm very pleased with the food. They changed one of my usual menu items though...a turkey reuben...replacing the thinly sliced turkey with much thicker and chunkier pieces. I know it may sound trite, but it took something away from my enjoyment of the dish. Otherwise, the place didn't disappoint.
We were attending a matinee, so we chose this restaurant for its convenient location. However, it is so overpriced...$50 for 2 mediocre sandwiches (only one came with fries) and a Diet Coke and tea?? That is without the tip. I am from New York, but even by New York standards, this was a little ridiculous. The sandwiches weren't even big and to charge about $20, is not right. It was also so crowded. I had made a reservation, which was honored, but the host wanted to seat my sister and I at the smallest table between others. W... read more
In time square but way too expensive. $23 burgers are outrageous!
Food was great which made up for the poor service. Waiter consistently showed up at wrong or awkward times, but in fairness they were extremely busy. Either way food made up for the service, just go with the right expectation.
Great experience at the Brooklyn Diner. The food was great and the waiter was very friendly and attentive. Great atmosphere, too! I very much enjoyed my experience here and will be returning next time I'm in New York City.
On my last NY trip I made one reservation and returned twice prior to leaving. On this trip I only went once. The reason? The pizza, which was outstanding, was inexplicably removed form the menu. This was a poor choice that will hopefully be fixed soon. Otherwise, the food was fine. Will definitely return once pizza is back on the menu.
It's right in the heart of Times Square so it was very convenient. I had the short ribs over linguine and it was just ok. I should have had one of the pastrami sandwiches instead. While the waiter was friendly enough, he was not very accommodating. I had to get his attention each time I needed something. He never came to check on us on his own. Since we made a reservation, we didn't have to wait for a table. The food was served very quickly, but again, it was just so-so. I give the Brooklyn Diner an ok rating but I don't thi... read more
This was the first time I had visited the Brooklyn Diner and was very happy with the food, service and atmosphere. I made reservations online since it was between Christmas and New Years, and that was a nice convenience that they allowed reservations for 2 to be made online and confirmed so quickly. Would recommend to others and wouldn't hesitate to eat there again.
Food and service is consistently good. Good family spot. Somewhat limited menu but enough choices even for kids.
