For a quick meal pre-theater don't miss this restaurant. Not diner prices nor menu!!! Great service and generous portions
+ves: the food quality is generally good, The milkshakes are heavenly. -ves: expensive, very expensive. This restaurant represents poor value for money. When compared with somewhere like Blue Smoke where the food is great, service exemplary and has a real buzz, the Brooklyn Diner comes a very firm 2nd. This restaurant though being (or attempting to be) authentic loses its' edge when you are presented with the check. A bit disappointing.
Used to walk by this place , see the word "diner" and think it was just a jumped up coffee shop. I was wrong. The food is great the staff is New York-y and full of energy, and the bar was lively and good. Just East of Times Square but the place was busy and the food was good. I would go back in a minute
Good food, no wait, and our waiter was great as well fast and courteous. We ended up going to the location on 57th street. But it was a good time.
Prices are high. There's no getting around that. But the service was quick and friendly. We had a reservation and were seated in a booth as soon as we arrived. The Reubun sandwich was huge and delicious. Definitely enough for two, unless you are starved. Same with the Chinese Chicken salad -- It was great and plenty for takehome. Friend who ordered a veggie burger also enjoyed it. And we all shared the kugel. I would go back!
A true NY experience. Like the Lindy's of yore
We came to Brooklyn Diner during super ball Saterday . The place was mobed which was a great Thing. The food was very tasty however was over priced . Double then any other place. We felt that the place was trying to push us Out. We ordered appetizers , soup and burger. All came at one time. We ask the waiter what is going on here? The food is getting cold. The answer was " we bring all the food out at one time " Did not appriciate this approach .
I made a reservation on line for Super Bowl Saturday at the Brooklyn Diner. I had been given tickets in December for my birthday to see Beautiful. At the time my friends were unaware of Super Bowl week in NYC. Anyway I made these reservations but had an uneasy feeling about being seated because of all the people in the city. Well, we arrived a little bit early and not only were we seated immediately, we were treated incredibly. Everyone from the Maître Di, to the waitress, to the server were the nicest staff we ever encounte... read more
