To start off, the rent is priced way to high for what you are going to experience living here. They tell you that they have security monitoring the lot 24/7. However, it doesn't take long to realize that that's a lie. There are constantly homeless people sleeping in the dumpsters, despite the gates and "security." This is by far the worst place I have ever lived! I would give them 0 starts if I could. Literally every person I know that lives here is always complain about how horrible this place is! Let's start with the trash, you have to walk so far to just throw your trash away! The garage gate is ALWAYS breaking down! My car got broken into while living here! I can not express how unfortunate my experience was with Candlewood North in Northridge because they asked me not to or I would be penalized... Be very careful and read your contracts. They let anyone move in, even people who are loud and do drugs on their patios. The maintenance staff is incredible but the front office is rude and will take all of your money once you try to move out. Be very careful, it's not worth it! They asked me to leave a yelp review so here it is...
Not a good experience. They will really nickel and dime you on move-out fees. Had many things stolen, they wouldn't review the security footage because we didn't know specifically what part of the day it was stolen and "It would be too much tape to go through". The current manager is rude and takes several days to respond to emails and the response is usually not even a full sentence. The current manager told us she would sue us for $600 if we left a bad Yelp review. The maintenance staff is awesome though!
The only good thing about this place is at the apartments are really big. That being said here is my story at Candlewood North My first month here a man on the second floor facing the pool in building A was taking pictures of me without asking from his room at the pool -The first couple of months there was a person here who had to be evicted as I was told because they were not cleaning up their animal and it made the whole entire hallway smell like piss and shit it was disgusting and no one did it anything for months. Was charged almost our entire security deposit in what they called "standard apartment cleaning fees" after leaving after spending all day cleaning the place and leaving it in better condition than when we arrived. We were only there for a year spending most of the day out of the apartment so the place wasn't even that dirty before we started cleaning.The person who walked through the place with us told us it was extremely clean and we were assured that any charges would be very minimal. Terrible, terrible. I was looking for a 2 bedroom apartment and called and left a message because they had one available. No response. My friend also called for me and left a message. No response. We both went to the "open house" (what a lie) and we tried for 20 minutes to get someone to let us in to see their apartments. No response. We even called the Corporate offices who assured me that someone would call us. No response. We lived here for over a year. Apartments relatively spacious (not for the current price though). Close to CSUN and a bunch of restaurants. And that is all there is to it. Appliances are older then some tenants. I call this apartment building "the building of many smells". As you walk in from the street bad smell hits you right in the nose. The building is always filthy with dog poop everywhere. The staircases have trash and dog urine constantly. The trash bins are opened and bake in the sun. If you walk by them you are hit by a foul smell and large blue flies. There are always trash and soiled furniture in the garage area and they remain there for weeks.
