Dave's Hot Chicken specializes in Nashville-style hot chicken. It was created by three best friends, one of who was a chef trained at Thomas Keller's French Laundry restaurant. I can't say I was overly impressed. The service was quick and friendly. The chicken was fine but I guess for the price I was expecting something amazing. It wasn't amazing but it was good.

We ate at Daves for the 1st time in Meridian, ID on Eagle near Lowes. We both love a good nashville hot chicken sandwich. We ordered a Daves # 2, 2 sliders, and fries and a single slider with a soda. We odered hot spice level on all sandwiches. We were thrown by the term slider, so we added the single in case we were still hungry, not understanding the size of the sandwich. Wow!!! Dave's Hot Chicken has the best chicken sandwich I have ever tasted. The chicken is perfectly cooked and has a nice bite and crunch to it. You can tell everything is made fresh to order. You can choose your spice level. The sandwich is served with slaw and pickles. Their fries are perfectly seasoned and served with fry sauce! We tried this place last week for the first time and have already been back twice. The service is exceptional and quick and the dining room is clean!

The boys in Blue Öyster Cult had it down right when they said Don't Fear the Reaper. At least where Dave's Carolina Reaper slider is concerned. I thought heat had finally met its match when I read a news story saying Dave's made customers sign a liability waiver when ordering a sandwich or chicken tender including Carolina Reaper peppers. Excellent food, excellent staff. Amazingly clean restaurant. It was spotless and there were staff cleaning the already spotless place. But the service is where they shined. Either I ordered the wrong meal or the lady heard me wrong, but they only charged me for a slider instead of a tender and a slider. I wasn't paying attention so didn't notice it. This place is a solid 3.5. The chicken looks like it is hand breaded. It is super moist. The buns on the sandwich was pretty awesome also. Soft. Seemed like a potato bread. I could be wrong. . I got the medium heat and honestly, there wasn't any heat at all. Maybe go another level if you want to taste some spice. The fries I got extra crispy. They were good. Seasoned well. Dave's.....did we just become best friends? You know me. Somehow, someway, you have been watching me since high school all those decades ago and you know me. Okay folks, food is flipping delicious.
