TO LIVE AND FRY IN L.A. In 2017, four childhood friends came up with a simple concept — take Nashville Hot Chicken and make it better than anyone else in America. With only a couple thousand dollars to their name, they boot-strapped a pop-up concept in a parking lot in East Hollywood serving a simple menu of tenders, sliders, fries, and kale slaw — they created a viral cult following with lines consistently over an hour long.

Checked out Dave's hot chicken and found the meal to be quite tasty. For fast food this is one of the better pieces of chicken that I've had. It is white meat but juicy, it tastes like it's been brined and the breading has lots of flavor both savory and a tiny bit sweet, nice combo. You can choose different heat levels from nonexistent to fiery and everything in between. This was my first time trying Dave's Hot Chicken. And I can't say I had a bad experience. I ordered the 2 Sliders with Fries. The fries were not amazing. They were definitely something I could eat, but I did find them a bit flavorless. The "Dave's Sauce" that came on the side helped that quite a bit. That sauce was incredible. I ordered a medium #1 (two tenders, fries, white bread) and also checked in on Yelp for a free chocolate milkshake. The food came out very fast and the woman at the cashier was pretty friendly too for the various questions I had. It is very spacious and pretty clean inside, and there is retro hipster-esque art painted on the walls. I was in the mood for some spicy chicken but I guess I should have gotten a higher spice level.
