This was my first time trying this establishment. It just opened up on Fowler near USF in the university plaza. I was curious to see the hype since everyone's been going consistently. I got there and of course there was a line but it wasn't that long. I was able to order and get my food in under 15 mins. I got the chocolate milkshake, single tender and fries combo. Dave hot chicken is 4.5 stars. Not 5 stars. There several thing I like. The interior has wall graffiti artwork is looking good. The restaurant has inside and outside seating because the restaurant is corner building. We got number three and four combo. The number three is sandwich plus a piece of chicken tender love it. Saw good reviews so my wife and I checked this spot out. It was pretty busy for a Sunday evening but service was quick despite the long line for third party orders. They also played amazing music while we waited for our order to come out. My wife ordered one tender and one slider, both Hot. I got two tenders at medium. First off, the chicken was perfect. This is hands down one of the best fried chicken restaurants in Tampa. The spices, crispness, and sauces were genuinely unique + The customer service went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience (huge shoutout to my man Duke for the clutch - saved me from an embarrassing moment and made sure we were served well and on time), the ambiance could be a bit better but the service (by Duke and others) outweighed any discomfort :)

It was a busy night of this place. The ordering line was never empty. Their employee handled the situation well. I ordered a number 4. Upon asking the degree of hotness, I was naively thinking since this restaurant calls Dave's hot chicken, I should go for "hot". It turned out 'hot" was too spicy for me. The cayenne chili pepper of the coating determines the degree of spiciness. I was glad I substitute Fry with Kale slaw. Dave's Hot Chicken is a new chicken restaurant located in the light gray Chipotle plaza on Fowler Avenue. It has urban decor with graffiti and a primarily red color scheme. They have a relatively small menu. They sell chicken tenders with fries, chicken slider sandwiches with fries, and some sides like mac and cheese along with fountain drinks. Great customer service, restaurant was really busy. Employees were amazing. The fries here are delicious. The chicken was ok had better though. Would come back maybe.
