About this business

TO LIVE AND FRY IN L.A. In 2017, four childhood friends came up with a simple concept — take Nashville Hot Chicken and make it better than anyone else in America. With only a couple thousand dollars to their name, they boot-strapped a pop-up concept in a parking lot in East Hollywood serving a simple menu of tenders, sliders, fries, and kale slaw — they created a viral cult following with lines consistently over an hour long.

Restaurant is very spartan, but clean with colorful graffiti covered walls. Tables and chairs are minimalist utilitarian. The service was very friendly and welcoming. However, the food was average and maybe a bit pricey. We got two combinations - one with mini slider and chicken finger with fries (hot) sauce) and the other with two fingers (mild sauce). We added cheese to both orders. The fried chicken was not crispy and had a bit of gristle. I did not like the seasoning on the fries, but that's personal taste. Nothi... read more

First time here and I loved the chicken sandwich. I got it in a mild spice level. I may actually move the spice up another level when I come back. I was going to share a sandwich and cut it in half but the sandwich was small. But itself was pretty good + added cheese and pickles . I actually liked their shake. I got a strawberry shake with lucky charms on top. The shake was delicious thickkk as I liked. I love the idea of having cereal as toppings.

Ordered #4 spicy and mini sliders for my kids. My sandwich was good. The mini sliders are microscopic. Literally an adult can finish it in one bite.

We had a nice dinner here tonight. It wasn't too busy and we quickly placed our orders. This location is closer to where we live, which is convenient. There is a lot of seating and it's always clean and tidy inside. I ordered the slider combo with fries and my husband ordered the slider and tender combo with kale salad and a chocolate milkshake topped with Oreo cookies. Within 10 minutes our pager buzzed and our food was ready to be picked up. Their chicken is so delicious and juicy. It's always made fresh and I love t... read more

Dave's Hot Chicken hit the spot this time around. I ordered two sliders and a side of fries--while the fries were crispy at first, they lost their edge after a few bites and felt pretty "meh." The real highlight, though, was the chicken sliders: each one was seasoned to perfection, with just the right kick of heat and a juicy, tender bite every time. If they can bring the fries back up to match those sandwiches, Dave's would be unbeatable. Still, for perfectly spiced chicken on the go, it's hard to beat.

Tried out this fried chicken sandwich shop recently and walked away a bit underwhelmed. The chicken itself was very dry--disappointingly so. To make matters worse, it was over-spiced, which completely masked the flavor of the meat. You end up tasting more seasoning than actual chicken. The dipping sauce leaned heavily on the sweet side. On a more positive note, the fries were surprisingly good--crispy and well-seasoned, definitely the highlight of the meal. Overall, it's just an OK spot. Not terrible, but not something I'd... read more

Tried the reaper level chicken, very delicious and juicy, but be ready to face hell the next 2 -3 hours. Had to sign a waiver, too. Dave's bites are great.

Dave's Hot Chicken is a tasty new fried chicken establishment in West San Jose. I often come here for lunch since it's close and allows me to grocery shop at the Trader Joes next door. Parking shouldn't be an issue, there is plenty of parking space for now (until the Costco gets built). The interior is clean and the staff is very friendly. "Two Tenders with Fries Combo" - 8/10: I think this is a great deal for the price. The meal decently sized chicken tenders, a piece of bread, pickles, and fries. The chicken tenders are ... read more

The place is open and clean and friendly with pop music and big graphics and high ceilings and self-serve soda refills- it's like the MOD of chicken. We were there 8:30pm on a Friday night and almost every seat was taken. Fast-food chicken isn't really my thing, but if it's yours... Dave's is more about the spice than Popeye's, more about being trendy and late night food trucky than KFC's, and more inclusive than Chick-Fil-A.
