amazing and love the quality! The setup of the scanner is quick and simple! The initial setup and download was a breeze. With this device having multiple connection methods I was impressed with how well it could detect the device and make sure everything would connect correctly in the future. You have three options to "connect" this device either it is Wifi, USB, or use a micro SD card. Works Okay I am usually a big fan of Brother products, and I do like this one well enough to give it 4 stars. However, because it is a bit of a struggle at times to work with, I had to knock a star of for ease of use… which is not usual for Brother products I have had in the past. Battery-operated is cool, great for offsite use, but WiFi connectivity a hassle. Battery-operated feature is cool, great for offsite use. WiFi connectivity a hassle; could never get it to work (see remarks below.) A small scanner has a few important use cases. In our case, it was to scan loose pieces of paper in a crawl space where a regular scanner wouldn't it. Easy to set up, easy to handle This scanner does its job right out of the box. Plug&Scan at its best. The device scans to an SD Card that you can then use to transfer the scans to your PC/Mac. Alternative methods like USB connection and WIFI Scan are available, but if you look for an easy, simple, quick and comfortable scan out of the box device, this one is it.
Very Compact This wasn't the fastest set up, it doesn't self install drivers and the download was quite large. But once it was set up, it worked well. Scanning was easy, and can be done to your computer over a wired connection, or over a wifi connection, or to an SD card. I highly recommend it!
Wish I could give it 4.5 stars, but it does the job for getting all the MAIL under control Advertised "Linux support", so I was hoping to just pass the cable through a channel I have cut in my wall and use it on my closet computer, so I could just pop my mail in and drop mail into a box underneath. Works ok in spite of non-existent instructions Brother's DS Mobile portable scanner, DS-940 DW is a nice little unit, with some very obvious problems. Other than the included Quick Set-Up Guide, which only includes how to download the drivers and get them installed on your PC or Mac computer, and Product Safety Guidelines - has NOTHING by way of how to use the product!
