Works exactly as advertised and then some It's a portable, battery powered scanner. It does exactly what it says it does, although I noticed a prior review that mentioned that the scanner can't connect to existing wifi networks, so I wanted to correct that. - The scanner DOES support this type of connection through its "infrastructure mode" setting. If you look up the model number and "infrastructure mode", you should be able to find instructions to set it up in the online owner's manual (not sure about the physical manual).... read more
Frequently needs to be restarted If you only need to scan a couple pages (<5) it's probably a pretty nice scanner. It seems like if I do anything over that it errors out and needs to be restarted. I get that it's not meant for large scale scanning but would have hoped it was stable enough to do over 5 pages or so before needing to restart. After several attempts I never could get the wireless setup to work but perhaps that was just user error. Overall, I'm pretty neutral on it. Wouldn't say it's bad but it's also not great.
Exactly what you need with a Chromebook I don't know about any other use, but installing equipment to use with a Chromebook is often a pain. Printers, for example, are almost impossible, and generally not worth trying. But this scanner saves the images it captures to a micro-SD card (not included) where Chrome sees them as simply stored on an external drive. Was not able to connect on the first try! I spent a little time trying to connect the scanner to my laptop with no luck, I haven't try again because I keep thinking I need to put a lot of time into this that I haven't found yet!
Very nice scanner Usually I don’t write reviews. But not for this scanner. It’s very useful. The size and features are adequate. Tech support sucks. I had a problem with scanning , they finally found that this is a cable issue and they told me to buy a cable myself, not even offering to send me replacement cable . What I did? I requested replacement from Amazon, they send me another one. Definitely should try it! This is the best portable scanner in market.
Portable, but not easy to install The software provided is rather obtuse, and re-connecting the device successfully sometimes involves removing and reinstalling the entire driver package. The upsell version of several utilities included "free" of charge was an annoyance - no trial, just "To use this pay for a license". Hard Pass on that. Otherwise, great portable scanner, fits in the laptop bag and keeps paperwork and receipts in order. Recommended.
Hard to connect wireless. I think it is an OK scanner. As long as I have it plugged in directly to the computer it works. But, the reason I wanted it was because it could be wireless. The software seems old, and getting it wirelessly connected is an act of congress.
Excellent portable scanner Love this portable scanner. Had to download manual for further instructions but got the hang it pretty quickly. Would buy and recommend it.
