Had a unit in Extra Space for almost two whole years. They always billed on time, always had a staff person to help me (when I always forgot my code to get in the building after hours), and helped me figure out my pro-rated billing when I left. Very clean and climate controlled.
The storage unit seemed fine and clean when I moved my stuff in. However, when I went to pick my stuff up a little over a month later, I found termites in the unit. They also just more than doubled the rate three months after getting the unit.

While I have no issues with the management of the location that I use, I wanted to mention a rather bizarre pricing practices. They keep increasing rates (and I am told that this is done centrally, not locally) while advertising similar units at much lower prices. So what I end up doing is periodically moving from one unit to another to secure new, lower price. That is fine when you have a small unit, but can be a hassle when it is a big one.

Is there anyone working at office at all? Came by 3x only to find out. No one is still at the office and the lights are off during OFFICE HOURS??!!! Are you SERIOUS??? This isnt the first time it happened. Please staff properly. Pointless putting out office hours if NO ONE IS LITERALLY at THE OFFICE!!!

I rented a large (10'x20') unit at this facility in June 2019. After only five months, they raised my rent 34% --- I've never heard of an increase like this! Chris talked with the regional office and apparently got the increase cut back to "only" 21% as indicated by the amount due for January. However, they neglected to refund the difference on my December payment! Be VERY careful if you rent from these folks. Do not rent a storage unit from this place! they are crooks and a scam!!! I still can't believe they sold my entire storage unit. When i called mutilple times to pay and no manger called me back or even tried to help. I had so many things in this unit from my childhood and now it's in the possession of someone else. Smh i hope that you guys get whats coming to you. Do not rent from this place I repeat do not rent a storage unit from here.

I signed up for a lease with this location. At the time, the manager told me that I could have items delivered to the unit if I left my padlock key, and that delivery company would bring items to the storage unit and place inside. What I did not know before I scheduled delivery of items and left my key at office was that a separate permission form would need to be signed in-person and that Extra Space would need to see my license again (they had already taken this info at sign-up). While the staff at the Shirlington location is nice and my wide unit is quite accessible, I was not happy to know that they raised my rates after only 5 months due to the fact it is month to month agreement. The postcard states that their rates are "reviewed and adjusted depending on market condition changes". An $11 insurance charge was "mistakenly" tacked on too. Hmmmm....... better get out before Amazon arrives.
