Aside from the smoke screen about rates that invariably double within 3 months, there is also the tactic that they charge $16.50 insurance built into every payment. So, if your bill is $60.37 then $16.50 of that is insurance. When they up your bill they take the $60.37 and add the increase and then charge the $16.50 again on the new rate. I have been a storage occupant since 2010 first with Life Storage, and now with the current owners Extra Space. The last 4 days have been a nightmare. I don't know what's going on but I have never been harassed this way since they have taken over. My bill is due on the 1st of every month and you are given a grace period until the 5th, but paying online you still have to pay by 10pm to avoid the late fee, but in the last 4 days including 10mins ago (3:10pm) I have received countless of phones reminding me to pay my bill. This company is shady in their policies. They do not inform you that whatever move out date you choose will not prorated in your last monthly rent. If you're going to do this - INFORM YOUR CUSTOMER so you can properly choose a move out date.... I will never choose this company for storage purposes and I will vocally tell everyone to avoid this company as well.
So I started renting a 7x10 unit from them for 57.95 in May of 23, granted that was a "introductory rate" and they told me that - It went up in 6 months to $110, then another few month to $127 and now just received my last billing $150 enough is enough - I called them and they basically said its supply and demand I say BS for that I can buy an 8x8 outdoor shed for $700 I gave them my 2 week notice!

I began my rental on August 18, 2024. Today is November 11, 2024. I just received a notice that my rental rate is increasing to almost double! This place uses bait & switch tactics. Beware!

my initial payment was $114 +. After 4 mos. they raised my payment by $100 a month. A con and a ripoff.
Mice has taken over the location at 1900 N Narragansett Ave. Lost over $15,000 worth of items from the infestation. The insurance they give you is useless because they only pay $250 on your Items don't get the insurance. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED DON'T GO HERE. CUBE STORAGE IS THE WAY TO GO.

MOUSE INFESTATION 707 W. HARRISON: here's their offer a) if I used their ins--they'd replace wool carpet. Their insurance annually x the number of years I've been there could be me 2 carpets. b) wrapped in plastic-got eaten anyway. I do not recommend trusting the leasing agents. They guaranteed me a prorated fee for my last month. However, they did not let me know about the condition that you cannot pay for the whole month via EasyPay and still receive a prorated amount. The leasing agent made me the guarantee and immediately offered easypay. Why would he offer me easy pay knowing i wanted the pro rated amount?
