We finally got all of our stuff in one state. After researching, site visits and feeling out the staff we chose this place. This place has the best staff. Willing to help, upfront about charges, no hidden fees, and free furniture covers! I think we lucked out on those though. Although our original unit we viewed was rented, the manager found us an even better unit much closer to the entrance. This place has rats. All our stuff had to be thrown away because it either got chewed up or pooped/pissed on. This is not a place you want to trust with your belongings. All the stuff we bought from hard work...ruined. The stuff that we treasured...ruined!!! Their contract states that they will not be responsible for this kind of things so we just have to take the lost!!

Many extra space units over the years - for SHORT TERM it is fine - can set up online without any help from the office. the problem with EVERY extra space is this - the consistent pattern of INCREASING rates to us customers. Begin at $39 - in two MONTHS - it is $50 - then about a year or so later another $5 a month increase - I cannot stress this enough - EVERY EXTRA SPACE does this - I have had units for my business in Denver, LA, Connecticut, Washington and others - and EVERY one is the same - price increase in 2 months ... read more
Wow! Not happy at all with Extra Space Storage in Kapolei. Back on Dec 19 or 20, I left two very nice Christmas decorations (sort of like nutcrackers with lights) in the hallway near my storage unit with a sign on it saying it was free to anyone who wanted them. Didn't want to throw them out because they were pretty unique for Christmas decorations. While everyone is suffering from the COVID-19 pandemic, people being laid off; stores having to close ....Extra Space Storage doesn't seem to care and are willing to raise their monthly rent off the backs of Kupunas like myself and others. Ellena, we understand the frustration of rate increases.We are committing to keep rates stable and not adjust customer rates regardless of the pressures of demand and occupancy. We are reversing any rent increases starting March 1. Customers will be receiving individual notice of this shortly as we process these updates.
In less than 2 years, the monthly dues have gone up at least twice. And even though they are polite they will not work with you on the grace period in a late payments. We had only planned on having the unit for a short period of time, 6 months. It has now been 2 years. We live in washington. It was out mistake on renting a unit. I've never even able to call and have someone answer, it always goes to voice mail. I've learned my lesson.
TERMITES!!! Facility admits they were there before I moved in. The mandatory insurance they force you to buy DOESN'T COVER IT. Basically, I paid them $1,000 to destroy my precious belongings: tax documents, out of print books, original works of fine art, family photos, wedding pictures, all irreplaceable, all destroyed. And even after they KNEW what happened, they still charged me for every day, until I was able to bag and remove all those boxes covered with swarming termite larvae from the unit. Takes them more than 5 days to dry clean a single standard business shirt. If you want effeminacy this is NOT the place.
If your on automatic payments and are planing to move out make sure u tell them before they run your card for the month - as they don't refund any unused potions. I was given incorrect information when I called to inquire about moving my things out and was only told a 5 day courtesy notice was needed and any unused portion would be refunded back to me. When I called to actually give my notice I was told no refunds are issued and I had paid for the whole month. That was upsetting as I paid for 3 weeks I don't need.
