Everything arrived in my new location except the one box I packed myself with all of my personal financial/medical/work related documents in it. After calling this company repeatedly they claimed they never had my blue box, which was on my manifest but somehow not on theirs. Either this box was stolen by someone in the company or they misplaced it. Either way, I am not happy at all with them and would never recommend this company again to anyone. Horrific is the only word that describes their service. We confirmed a reservation to move weeks in advance. They came out and did a detailed estimate. The day of the move, and our legal closing on the property, they FORGOT to notify the dispatcher about our job and there were no trucks available to perform our move that day!!!! We cried and then scrambled to find a last minute mover which our super luckily had in his back pocket. We are boycotting FLATRATE for life. <br />
<p>I hired Flat Rate to pack and move half my belongings from Manhattan to Queens,and the other half into storage for a year. I just (7/30/12) had them move my storage items to Queens. The agent convinced me to pay $1200 extra for "Elite Service" which includes havinga manager on site,a photo inventoryof items in each box, special shoe boxes, an IT speciailist , as well as setting up TVs and electronics at the destination.<br /> They did not arrive on packing day at 9 am. I had a confirmed appointment with FlatRate for a long distance move from NY to MI on June 29th. After confirming truck availability and agreeing for an in-house inspection they came back after couple of days to only say that we have no availability now! Asked them what is the next available date and they said they have on June 26th! I advanced my move out date and since they were ready for June 26th but only to my dismay they came back on June 15th and said we could not take this up as discussed earlier. I would absolutely not recommend them; because their whole thing is that they say give flat rates and then they won't change it when we call them up. They ended up trying to change it and gave me a lot of problems, they scuffed up my floors and they were just not nice. They went and did another job either right before or in between mine. They got there and got all the work done, and said that they were going to go to take care of this other job for a friend while they were on my time. It was really annoying. They were horrible. We would not recommend them to anyone. It was a nightmare. We didn't have a lot of stuff to move over, it was a small move. The quality of their work was horrible. They damaged so many little things that I had. There was some damage to my brand new refrigerator and they spray painted it, tried to cover it up. They didn't want to give us money to cover the cost of the refrigerator. It was really bad. They didn't give us anything and it was a really bad experience. The movers were hard working, and did an A+++ job working, and wrapping things that we hadn't gotten to. They worked very fast. <br /> There were a couple of minor dings to the new house, but the furniture came through fine. We were pleased with their courtesy, and the speed of the move. <br /> On the down side, toward the end, some became impatient because we needed furniture re-assembled, which took time. <br /> The real problem was the salesman. The experience packing my belongings in New York was very stressful. They were very presumptuous about requesting a tip from me before they even got on the road. It was very uncomfortable for me and I did feel pressured into giving them cash on the spot before the delivery was even complete. I called the office to complain about that and the office stated that was not ok for them to do. I have feeling they lost some of my boxes too but I can't prove that.
Arrived on time and started out well. Leaving our old apartment went relatively smooth and we thought that the foremen responded well to directions. The problem started when they arrived to our new apartment. - Two 7 foot sofas were both arrived dirty. They are cream colored and upholstered. - Tempur medic mattress also dirty on the edges and box spring needs total replacement.
