I was pleased with this service. He was on time, polite, did a good job and cleaned up afterward.
Jack Pixley sweeps have done an excellent job for me in the past. I didn't use them this time as I found another equally qualified sweep (Copperfield) on Angie's List that charges less and also had an Angie's List coupon.
The chimney sweep was very professional and explained everything to me. A normal cleaning wouldn't be quite this expensive, but I had a more thorough inspection b/c we've been having trouble with the chimneys. Also, the existing caps were not removable, so I paid to have new caps put on.
First the technician rang the bell, when the bell stopped he knocked on the door, then 10 seconds later he was leaving. Must have been in a hurry to get somewhere else. Then when he cleaned the lower level fireplace, he did remove the chimney cap and climbed up a ladder on the side of the chimney to inspect the top. The chimney cap has a crack that has been patched in the past. He did not mention the presence of the crack. The second chimney, he never even went on the roof to inspect the cap. They cleaned and more importantly inspected our wood burning fireplace. We discovered that there was cracks in the liner and it was really unsafe to use. Ray suggested putting a gas insert in because it would be a good option instead of fixing the liner. We love our new insert and appreciate Ray's suggestion even though his company won't be getting our business anymore because we won't be burning wood anymore.
I would give them an overall B. The work was A work, but there was work that never got done. Whenever they came, it was raining, but the boss never called back to reschedule.
Steve was very friendly and professional. He didn't leave a speck of mess from the job. He offered advice and helpful tips. I was very happy and satisfied with the work.
They were very knowledgeable and did a very good job without creating any mess. They were able to determine why our chimney was smoking so much (negative air pressure) and told me how I could correct the problem.
I thought they did great work but they were a little high. Pretty professional. I was impressed with Jack Pixley.
