I've felt that the routine care here has been average. Recently, one of our cats has developed symptoms that we felt haven't been thoroughly addressed. However, the last straw for this practice occurred when our dog was in for teeth cleaning. Without our prior knowledge or consent, multiple teeth were extracted. Certainly, it might have been the right thing to do and saved another anesthetic, but a prior discussion needed to occur. We were never provided with information regarding risks and benefits nor the opportunity to as... read more

I have been going to LAH for 8 years with my dog. I have found the vets to be very nice. However, I have found that they have give mediocre care, which is fine since my dog is relatively healthy. At one point, they missed a diagnosis, which created an emergency situation for him when I was out of town with him the following day. I had to take him to a different vet who ran a simple test, which they said was indicated given his symptoms (and could have been run the prior day) and gave him proper treatment. Still, I go to ... read more

I grew up in Pinole and have always taken my pets to El Sobrante Animal Hospital, glad I put that out there first. I called the hospital in hopes to get a quote to get my cat neutered. Michelle told me it was $140, I called around and this seemed reasonable. My bill ended up @ $356.06, how did this happen you ask? well let me break it down. The Actual Castration = $115, However there is a $63.50 tagged on to that as a consultation fee. Total so far = $178.50 I'm puzzled at the miss quote so far. My cats ears were ... read more

More than a year after putting my dog to sleep. We got a notice that he needed his shots. That was the final straw Medical staff there is great. Attentive and caring. Admin is horrible. Rude and uncaring and mostly act like they are doing us a big favor if they talk to us at the desk two stars only because of doctors We have changed vets

Frist Time; I will never go back or recomend this place. We took our dog for a check up and for shots. We came in early for 9:30 appointment like they asked, to fill paper work, we continued to wait till 9:50 with no explanation why we had to wait. Staff not friendly, 7 more dogs came in after us were taken in before us . Our dog is no more special then the next dog. There should be better communication. Especially with new patients. When we said we are leaving, they said you are next ? We said we should reschedule, they knew... read more

I have not been impressed. I feel like this place is just in it for the money . I've been taking my dog there for a couple years now and have decided to find another practice. Took my elderly dog in for with hip/walking problems and he ends up spending several days there for "hydration" due to pancreatitis. Huh? Couldn't figure out how not eating breakfast that morning led him to be hospitalized--700$ It seems to be a common diagnosis at this place. All they need is for you to say is that your dog has no appeti... read more

If you can get past the rude, unenthusiastic, personality free front help, then the actual veterinarian ( Dr Weidermeyer in particular) is very nice. One day, after getting my dog's blood work completed, the nurse told me to stick around for some meds. After about half an hour of waiting, two of the receptionists gave me a funny look (like why is this person STILL here) but said nothing to me like "have you been helped"? I told them I was still waiting for the meds and instead of communicating anything to me- like" let me ... read more
