I think the vets know what they're doing, but the front desk staff is unorganized and rude. Out of the 5 times I've brought my dog in 3 of those times the medications were wrong or missing from the bag. The first time, I didn't mind, mistakes happen, they even comped the price since I had to come back across town to pick it up. But today they didn't seem to care at all. So disappointing. We'd been coming here for 6 years with great vets that have seen us. However, this time and a last time around we met with a vet named Dr Norton who similar to other reviews, up sold us on unnecessary medication, claimed the food I was feeding my dog was killing him, and claimed he needed dental work. This was absurd because we had recently gone to another vet, which was not int he Lafayette animal hospital records, to get his teeth cleaned. We have been taking our animals here for years. This practice has deteriorated in the past year or so. The doctor we saw for a simple puppy check up seemed to have no idea what they were doing. Literally left the room multiple times to "consult her colleagues" and came back with a google print out. They messed up one of our puppies vaccines and that was the last straw. This is not the office we gave been going too the past 5-10 years. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE!

I have been bringing my pets here for years and I will also never return . My dog has had persistent issues with his front leg. I had a follow up with the same Dr who saw him four weeks ago because my dog was in pain. The doctor felt my dog needed X-Rays and the cost was $357. I agreed and after an hour the doctor said, "I have great news. Your dogs back and hips look great. We don't think that we need to take an X-Ray on his front legs because there usually aren't any issues there." I told him that the issue was with the ... read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. My family has been going to LAH since 1980. For over 35 years! The doctors who retired were amazing. As was the office staff that accompanied them. I have finally spent my last dime there and my last time there. The office manager has zero empathy and puts her efforts in "I understand mam/sir, but per policy...." rather than an ounce of compassion into the clientele or the animals. We have a long history of bringing our animals to Lafayette Animal Hospital. Clearly, with the retirement of great veterinarians, the new group of doctors care more about profits than they do about animal care. Our most recent incident is over our two rescue dogs, 10 and 7 years old, who CCC Animal Services needs documentation of them being spayed and neutered. I have been bringing my pets there for 23 years, several years ago, the practice was sold to a large corporation. Since then the staff has gotten progressively ruder and less helpful. Dr Kessler is an excellent vet however he is surrounded by a group of unhelpful adminstrators. The compassion is gone. They have a set of rules and there is no further discussion. We are new to the area and needed a vet for our 88 year old boxer. The first time we went she had a sore on her body and all Dr. Norton said was to wash her wounds and maybe we should biopsy. 3 weeks later she has sores all over and when we brought her in Dr. Norton was extremely rude told us we were killing our dog by the food she was eating and was adamant that he had told that to us the last time. We have been going to Laf Animal Hospital for many years and have loved the care they have provided for our dogs. Recently, we have been to Dr Norton and it has really become an uncomfortable process. It might be me, but I do not feel confident with his manner or recommendations. It almost feels like there are motivations besides your pets health in his thought process, such as food and drug recommendations that don't seem to fit the appointment or concern for bringing in your pet.
